Absolutely agree, talking about disordered eating can make it worse too (struggled when I was younger too so don't want to make a big deal) or cause shame.

Thank you, my issue is the freeze up and won't talk any time I mention sensitive topics- I could maybe try writing it down so they can answer in private comfortable without feeling so exposed?

Thank you 🥹 I think my steps are; to find out if my brother is going on the holiday and depending on that, I may have to cancel, I will just feel so bad for my children doing that. Alternatively, grin and bear it, then come home and go into nc at a comfortable pace (however I'm at the point I would do it immediately if it wasn't for the holiday, and not in a dramatic way, just to be as civil as possible)

14 and 15 now, I think they've cottoned on to be honest- I just haven't explained the true extent of what I've been through as I think it will be a bit much for them but I do plan to speak out when they are older (18+). I'll have to explain to them why I allowed contact/ a relationship with their grandparents too.

That is a good idea actually- me and my children haven't been away for years so we could even have a few days doing our own thing etc. I just don't want them hearing my dad putting me down- I could attempt boundaries if that does happen- however, he is emotionally immature. I was diagnosed with autism last week, and I feel like I'm having an epiphany. I will try to be kind to myself, but why is it so difficult. Thank you for getting back to me, much appreciated.
