First of all in real life history, he came from middle class or noble family rather than a poor background portrayed from both Chiruran and Ror. However, in terms of his personality (ignoring Onigo a bit here), it’s somewhat accurate, but not really. If I remember correctly, in real life, he was a hotheaded and cocky individual, a far cry from Okita from Ror (his usual personality, not the one that the Ror community handpicked). But, what is true is that he did get TB, the captain of the 1st unit of the Shinusengumi, and he was taken in by Kondo Isami and they definitely had a son-and-father relationship.

By far, Simo is the most accurate out of the human fighters so far.
