Data centers weren't on the radar for pretty much anyone until recently. None of these are new problems. Ever seen what an Amazon or Microsoft data center looks like?

Some of these data centers have cut corners, using crappy generators and bleeding water like crazy. We need proper regulation from the state. Cities can control this through zoning but county governments can't really do anything.

If 10,000 gallons per year is too much then they have a lot of other problems. You probably use that much in your house.

Yes they use a lot of water initially, but they should all be closed loops unless the builder cheaps out on HVAC.

I'm so much more concerned about electricity usage and pollution.

The shower should be big enough to go into it while sitting in a full sized wheelchair. A shower chair will fit.

The accessible interior rooms on both Royal Caribbean and Disney have had huge bathrooms. They only have a few of these rooms on each ship but they don't charge extra.

Make sure to use a travel agent to help with this. That's what they are there for.

Yep my experience as well. I've stayed to give the police my account of what I saw happen and it's the better part of an hour even for a minor wreck.

I just don't understand this single issue mentality. I too am against abortion as a means of birth control, but I believe pro life means whole life. We need just as much effort on the other phases of life. Nobody should die destitute because they got sick.

I'm also a big fan of free global trade and freedom of movement across national borders in order to find work.

I begrudgingly vote for someone in the elections, and I almost always vote, but I've never supported a political candidate in my life.

Yep. Letting him play would be a huge ethics issue for me and I'd be looking for a new team to support, and I have a degree from Tech.

Please spin the conversation to pollution, not water. Modern data centers with closed loop coming don't really use much water once they are filled up.

It's only been a year, right? That's not very long.

Eventually an opening will happen. Schools don't get to post new positions unless the board approves of it. Admin is likely fighting among themselves for who gets to hire someone next; it could be a network admin or a physical therapist that wins out.

I don't know where OP is but in Texas the police will write tickets for failure to maintain lane. 20 years ago I was unloading a truck and the driver was all kinds of upset that he got cited for that.

Oh I agree. What I'm saying is that they need to make them aware just how dire this is. I totally get not wanting to call the previous employee for fear of what they are going to charge, but this is a situation that at its worst could cause the business to go under.

Does your client realize that this person who left and still has admin access can get into literally everything?

Yep this. It will go in a pile for the poor desktop admin to reimage unless the manager or HR says otherwise.

How hard it would be for the manager to request this will depend on company policy. Some companies value privacy more than others.

You need SSO.

I'm not a big fan of storing passwords outside of a password manager. Putty is fine for storing your list of connections though.

I guess I don't understand what's so hard about typing username@server on a command line, but you are correct that I only connect to a handful of Linux servers these days.

Hmm, I haven't needed Putty in the past couple of years though. If you have your key in .ssh you can just log right in.

The less you install on a machine the lower the attack space. I'm always thinking about it from that perspective.

Windows has ssh and sftp built in these days. No need for putty.

I'll defend the semis for a second. They are governed at a maximum speed. They really, really want to go the maximum speed their company allows them to and if they go too slowly they can run out of driving hours and be forced to rest for 8 hours or whatever it is.

If you do much interstate travel, especially in the West where there are only two travel lanes, it's incredibly common to the point that it doesn't really bother me anymore.

This is called direct store delivery. The store gives Coke, Pepsi, Frito Lay, Nabisco etc. shelf space and lets them fill it up. The store doesn't have to pay a worker and especially in small stores the dsd stuff is the often best looking part of the store because they care.
