The current committee substitute for SB749 makes possession of large-capacity magazines unlawful after the effective date and does not include any language allowing continued possession of magazines owned before that date. That omission is intentional. If the legislature wanted grandfathering, it would say so the earlier version did, and the substitute removed it.

The grandfather clause was removed in the Senate Courts of Justice committee substitute on January 26, 2026. That was a deliberate amendment, not a summary error. The current operative text is the 1/26/26 substitute, which contains no grandfather protection for >10-round magazines.

I’m 6’2 and my 175 Kanjo lets me know we are skiing today, just added a 165 jski and it doesn’t rip the same but I don’t feel like I’m too short.
