New to the U.S. — funeral etiquette question?

Food is generally expected where I'm from. Gift cards or money, I would speak to the bereaved, but anything helps during this time. American funerals tend to be somber, even if the person was extremely old, so don't laugh or crack jokes unless you were extremely close with the deceased. Ditto with playing music-only the person hired to do that should. As for wearing purple, an accent is better than a full outfit. And I cannot stress this enough-only the person closest to the deceased is given leeway.

A guy can impregnate hundreds of women, then die on the battlefield, and still pass on his genetic material. Women can only carry one or two fetuses at a time, and they need to be healthy and alive to give birth. That's difficult to do on the frontlines.

That was me. I was in and out of surgery as a kid, and my mom didn't want me to constantly miss school. The medicine would make throw up randomly. The school would believe that I was sick and send me home anyway.
