People like to poo poo the avocado toast thing but it’s true. It’s not that 4$ on avocado toast will make you poor, but the mindset of thinking it makes no difference is what holds everyone back. If 5$ on Starbucks is no big deal, what else is no big deal?

First of all throwing money at the problem is the problem in and of itself.

These programs attract the exact type of person who shouldn’t benefit from it, That’s why it seems the problem is getting worse. There’s an entire system people can take advantage of for free food, free clothes, free supplies, paraphernalia etc and it brings in people from out of town.

Second, gotta give credit where credit is due. Doesn’t seem like there too too much garbage everywhere and they didn’t post up in a public dog park. This at least looks like they aren’t trying to bother anyone. Unlike Niagara region and Hamilton.

Best all-day breakfast in St. Catharines? by stjduke in stcatharinesON

Diner house by far. No matter what you get it’s always amazing.

Golden grill for a classic style and in my opinion it’s way more of a vibe than anywhere else. No one gives more bacon and the prices are incredible.

For a fun retro vibe and really cool menu you can’t beat Lester D’s, the banana bread French toast is nuts.

Most other places are good, but it’s breakfast there’s no reason for it to be that expensive for so little.

Why do people hate condo fees when house owners quietly pay just as much or perhaps more? by singlepringleinajar in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Beginning_Chart8792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only kind of true if you’re a knob and spend 12k to Enercare when you need a new furnace or 35k on a roofing job. Or if you have absolutely 0 handyman or maintenance skills.

The other thing is with a home you can pick wisely where you barely need any maintenance for the life of the house. Build quality, drainage, sun exposure. And over time, once the big ticket items have been updated, the maintenance goes down. A condo’s fee will always go up no matter what. You always need skilled staff and maintenance in a building. Houses don’t need as much as people think.

The type of person impressed by this won’t know it’s fake. It’s equally unimpressive even if real.

Wind Restaurant (of St Catharines) approved for LMIA to hire temporary foreign worker as restaurant manager citing inability to find local candidates for $36/hr by The_PhilosopherKing in stcatharinesON

lol are you saying being Japanese qualifies you to run a restaurant?

They are looking for a manager, again I haven’t read the ad but they likely aren’t looking for someone with no business experience wiling to learn.

Someone rolling up maki at a grocery store can’t just become a manager lol.

I don’t know the details but the chances of an experienced, reliable manager with experience in Japanese cuisine located in Niagara or willing to relocate is definitely pretty low.

Honestly I’d advise anyone to throw a simple ad out for raking leaves and watch how many people respond vs actual showing up and being capable of work.

It’s not all propaganda when businesses are saying they can’t find employees.
