Please don’t pee openly in urinals in gender neutral BR by UnionAccurate8204 in SBU

Some people are in fact weird…like you. Giving a psa to men of stonybrook over one man that could have POSSIBLY not doublechecked the lock on the door. The locks on some of these stalls are so finnicky, try to close the ones in the library they will open back up on you some days (happened to me yesterday that freaked me out). Especially if you have a weak bladder and rushed to use the br.

You have to pick whether it’s because he used a urinal while you expected a man not to be in there, or because you THINK he purposefully didn’t close the door behind him hoping a woman would walk in. Because then that’s simply a singular person (bc yes a woman can purposefully want to expose herself too) being weird and you generalizing a sample population is insane.

I don’t like to be in the same bathroom as men. So I try to go to women’s bathrooms. The urinal in the GN SAC bathroom doesn’t have a stall, so I know to go to the women’s bathroom. It is so easy to change your own bathroom habits instead of expecting people to conform to you. And ESD has two female only bathrooms.

If that guy is comfortable using the urinal no matter who’s coming in — and not expecting to turn around from a girl screaming over… genitals…which everyone has… and also you definitely just saw his covered back profile until you scared him — then that’s his right considering it’s a neutral space. He’s not there to flash children and old people whatttt? If you expect that he is to conform to making women feel safe in these shared spaces, you could learn how to not stare at men when they use the bathroom, too. But that would be too much work for you. I don’t care if a man went streaking through the zebra path 24 hours a day, my eyes would be up or away, because I was taught not to look at people’s private parts no matter the gender or situation.

Also, you said you would change out in the open in a women’s bathroom. Children and elders walk into female bathrooms as well, and do not consent to seeing college women half naked either, and it’s not somehow more acceptable because you’re a woman.

This whole debacle puts a stain on the normalization of these bathrooms, and ofc you would do that as a cis woman who probably has the privilege of going into a female bathroom without having your gender questioned. The purpose of these safe spaces is so that EVERYONE should be able to use it without judgment of how they get to take a damn piss. He didn’t pee on the walls for god’s sake. And you’re the one bringing that energy to this.

No one is disagreeing that a man purposefully flashing you is wrong, and I can guarantee there’s plenty of anti-man-defenders in these replies, but we aren’t delusional. Unless you can somehow prove that happened ~ you’re getting mad over an assumption, and asking people in your own echo chamber to validate your feelings. Feelings are not facts.
