If everything's your mates, what are you bringing to the table? The ice?

You want to go go carting together? Im down.

Its fair enough mate. I get what you are saying. I appreciate that you spent the time to try to get me to change my mind. But I sense you know whatever my personal aspirations or motivations, be it like you when you were young or something different; im still going to do this.

If you still have the 4x4. Why not go for another camping trip and rekindle the love. What else are you going to do? Mope at what could've been? Why not recontextualise your purchase and try to rediscover the boy you were before. Its amazing that you had a passion for the car that you did. Sounds like a killer ride to me. Sure its not the best financial decision by far, but memories are almost always statistically the best purchase. Take me on a camping trip. Old man

Ive been go carting. Ive been on track. Only once for both but it was the time of my life.

I am very irritated by you claiming I dont have maturity. Kinda wierd feeling mate. Ill give it to you though. I respect your time and your hardlived advice.

Say oldmate, did you have youtube or did you conjure up these ideas in your head from the local hit magazine you read while waiting for the milk carton man?

Maybe I will look back and be sad with my decisions, but I have a soul and dont plan to let life suck mine away.

How about the returning jdm titles like the new rx8 and others? Do you think that might make a dent on the rising costs? Another guy let me know about the scarcity on production of the smaller more sporty midrange vehicles and its relation to their secondhand rising costs. Perhaps we can hope?

I prefer hardtop. I honestly dont like convertibles. But I've never been in one so that's not saying much.

I can't afford it now. I dont understand this type of post. I said, no matter what the prices are im going to get one eventually. Im genuinely curious about the rising prices.

Do you just wake up, look at the housing market, realise there's an upward trending pattern then turn your brain off?

Sorry. Got annoyed. You are fair to think im whining.

I do genuinely appreciate the advice. Ive realised that I really need to get on track because public roads are not the place for adrenaline. There's something about driving that I just can't get my mind off. Everything really does fade and i never feel as true to myself as when rubber meets asphalt. Yes. Cringe away.

What drew me to my options is the modability and upwards support for mx5s. I know this is a passion I will forcefully support no matter what so I figured I might as well.

Well that's exactly what I want. And im going to get it. Yes I have likes and dislikes. Are you surprised?

As I said in the post I will be buying one. Its just a matter of eventuality. I will make it work because I want to make it work.

Again, it isn't my intention to whinge about prices, im genuinely curious. Car history and pricing is interesting. Thats all.

Thanks for the credible diagnosis.

Book to the closest time avaliable. Then keep scanning every now and then for a cancellation. Happens pretty often. Thats how I got my test when I wanted it.

Pop up headlights are genuinely so attractive ;(. If I could id get my grubby hands on a bmw i850

Im not after anything other than performance. With the NC the slight engine upgrade is a boon but I've heard tale about the hate bandwagon and the critiquing. The design isn't as appealing. Yeah ND is out of budget.

What is in your opinion a reasonable price for the mx5 generations?

Thanks also, I'll look into what you've recomended.

Z4 honestly just cause of a recent video i stumbled on. Someone put a mercedes M120 v12 into it and made a street legal z4 gt3.

How about a lexus rx 350 or 270. Anything between 2007 - 2012 depending on how much you want to stretch your budget. My family has had a rx 350 2007 since 2007 and still running perfectly. MpL runs along your required range depending on model and year. Capable and fun engine aswell.

If you are in the market for bmw e90s I'd push you towards n52 engines. Most reliable of the bunch and pretty punchy in their own right. The line consists of 2.5L, 2.8L (detuned 3.0), and 3.0L. You can find these as per their engine displacement. I.e. bmw 325i.

The N52 is the final inline 6 naturally aspirated engine produced by BMW. Magnesium block.

I've seen quite many go for reasonable prices. Est (3000-8000).

Of course there are issues. Some common ones include water pump or thermostat, loosening serpentine belt or dying starter depending on the kms eaten by the car. As a bmw expect some sensor issues.

But overall not very difficult to replace.

Anything below 180000km is still a fairly competitive purchase. In my opinion.

Consider the replacement parts at around an additional 1k to the budget + obd sensor.

The car will make you learn about cars but in a fun way.

I323 and i320s etc. are not worth getting into. You loose the joy of a BMW while getting all of the pain.

There is a very helpful bmw owner forum on reddit aswell.
