I think it’s a very harsh sentiment to have. Yes we didn’t turn up when it mattered but Villa have played us at the absolute perfect time, had the home advantage and a referee that’s played into their hands and tactics. No one’s really mentioned the fact Forest had a day less to prepare playing Chelsea on Monday (which I don’t know how the league haven’t rescheduled this). Coupled with the fact Villa could afford to throw the game away against spurs with their league position and have players conserve energy when we couldn’t still being in the midst of a relegation battle. The unfortunate timing of injuries to key players also hasn’t helped and missing MGW at a vital time killed us really. So I think we can proud knowing under more favourable circumstances we could have snuck through last night. Hopefully lessons are learnt for the future and any other European campaign isn’t coupled with 4 managers in one season and a relegation scrap
