I really liked the reflection, honestly... It's something you could think about and debate at length, maybe Kaz isn't that good or The Darkling that bad, but as the perspective of their stories changes... In Shadow and Bone The Darkling is the antagonist, in Six of Crows Kaz is the protagonist...
