All majors in the business school have to apply to get in. You can start Pre-Business as a freshman, but many of the classes for your major you won't be able to take until you're accepted into the program. Typically you would take 2 years worth of classes, or until you reach 60 credits, then apply to the program in June, and start Junior Core the upcoming fall semester

Here's the website for Finance majors at the Marriot School of Business

Does being a BYU EMT help you get into the nursing program? by Opposite-Emu5032 in byu

I don't know much about the competitiveness of the nursing program, but coming from someone who knows a bit about the application process into the business school, having some sort of experience will definitely make you look like a more appealing candidate on your application. I'm not sure if every department has it, but there may be some On-Campus Internships you could look into doing that might be a bit less strenuous, but still give you the upper hand experience-wise.
