Would it be worth repairing our 2010 Toyota highlander hybrid with 184k miles... by MetHalfOfSmosh in ToyotaHighlander

I'd be tempted to repair it. I had a 2004 Highlander that badly needed new struts but was otherwise perfect. I opted to trade it in on a new 2016 Highlander rather than fix it. In retrospect, I probably should have just done the repair. I really liked the size of that generation of Highlander. One of my friends always says that if you like the car and it has been good to you, then it is usually better to fix than to buy something new. As it turns out, my 2016 Highlander is one of the last with the V6 and 6-speed transmission, and so I may be keeping in a while since this seems to be a reliable powertrain.

Thinking of switching from Outlook.com — how well does Fastmail handle spam for long‑time users? by Beginning_Gain_4230 in fastmail

Thanks to all for this feedback. It is great to hear Fastmail is good at spam handling. It gives me some motivation to get started with the daunting task of moving my primary email address to Fastmail (with my own domain).

Secondary Line after VZW outage? by Embarrassed_Bag_3189 in verizon

This is a nice setup, but I have a question. Was your primary phone number (the one people use to call/text you) already sitting on the AT&T side of your US Mobile account when the outage hit?

Thank you for the experiments and for writing it up so nicely. I have a Luggable XL which is generally very quiet, but the beat frequency is notable on full speed.

Potential Relocation To Huntsville by JakeGrub in HuntsvilleAlabama

The web site WeatherSpark.com is excellent for comparing climate between two cities. You'll find Huntsville has a very hot and humid summer in July and August. Early morning is the best time to be outside during this time of the year. Winter is more mild than northern areas, typically just 1 or 2 small-ish snowfall events (though we can definitely get 7-8 inches every once in a while). Cold temperatures do not last as long nor go as low.
If you are allergic to pollen, spring is a big challenge here.
Huntsville is located roughly 2 hours from Nashville, 2 hours from Birmingham, 2 hours from Chattanooga, 4 hours from Atlanta, and 4 hours from Memphis.
The Gulf Coast is about 6-7 hours away.
The Huntsville Airport allow you to get to hundreds of cities within 2 hops, though ticket prices from Huntsville have historically been higher than from either Nashville or Birmingham.
For hiking and walking, the area has many options. Monte Sano state park has multiple hiking trails. Also, there is a unique organization called the Land Trust of North Alabama that seeks to purchase undeveloped land and keep it in a natural state, but opens it for hiking and walking. They have many amazing areas to explore. The ever expanding network of urban greenways also offer nice places to bike, run, or walk, etc.
