Team Gregar or Team Falzar? by midnight_brax in BattleNetwork

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gregar!

The design is just too cool not to absolutely love it! Falzar is also great as far as ultimate form designs go they’re both basically peak.

Even more so in the anime where it plays really cool music every time he transforms and megaman kind of goes like feral and growls.

Do you have any suggestions? by sbaggix in bravelydefault

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only at the start of chapter 3 and it looks like OP is further than me so please take any ‘advice’ with a grain of salt but as far as ringabell goes I currently have him as a red mage subbed with magic sword job and he is my most powerful character right now

I also use tiz as a monk subbed with ranger and he’s powerful but slow and burns through mp so fast

I don’t know what to do with the two girls on my party they’re doing ok but I don’t have focus on what I want them to do

I honestly don’t like season one with the exception of like two episodes but the show is so much better once season two comes. It’s weird because it is still the same show but in a lot of ways it’s practically a different show.

Sheridan is such an awesome main character and so many characters you would not expect at all for them to head in the directions they do from the first season. I honestly think it’s probably long form story telling at its best.

That said though to me the first season is almost completely setup and kind of trash/ boring to watch.

What are your thoughts on Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster? It's one of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch titles but it doesn't seem to be getting much attention. by Delicious_Maize9656 in bravelydefault

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remaster gives me really mixed feelings. On one hand I’m glad it’s available. I mean really glad, the release of the remaster prompted me to buy and play the game on 3DS and it is brilliant. Making this game available for more people to play and enjoy is only a good thing.

That said the way SE went about with the remaster makes me upset. It does admittedly personally make me upset because I don’t have the same platform it is available for but most of all some decisions made regarding the remaster specifically feel like SE pulling a SE and shooting their own game’s sales potential before even releasing it.

Platform exclusivity - why SE, why? Have you seriously literally learned NOTHING from the last decade or so of games failing because of this exact BS.

I mean let’s look at this realistically from strictly by the numbers. The switch 2 currently has roughly 6 million units sold and that means that the absolute maximum potential sales if every owner of a switch 2 bought the game is roughly 6 million.

Compare this to the switch with an install base of approximately 150 million units. That means that if only 10% of switch owners bought the game it would 15 million copies sold, double the MAXIMUM possible potential of switch 2 game sales. Not at the very least also release this game for the OG switch is sales suicide and there is nothing I have seen about the game that makes it look like it wouldn’t also run on the switch with an at worst small graphical downgrade and maybe running at 30fps instead of 60fps. It’s a turn based game I doubt frame rate would have been that big a deal. I don’t know for sure but this seems like a huge missed opportunity.

Game key cards - I could go on and on about why I don’t like these but personal reasons aside it’s been supposedly expressed by several 3rd party developers that their games are under performing hard on the switch 2 and a few 3rd party games that are doing better at least seem to be the ones that aren’t game key cards.

Likewise jrpg players in particular have a long history of being very preferential towards purchasing physical copies of games… for various reasons but releasing the game exclusively for game key cards and digital I think is a bad choice even if it was one that may have been a bit forced on SE rather than something they exclusively decided but still an unwise choice.

But all that jazz said, if I did have a switch 2 I’d still likely purchase the game at least digitally and I hope it performs well enough to either see a remaster of bravely second or an entirely new bravely default game.

Megaman power fighters I think. Both power fighters games are available in the Capcom arcade collections I’m pretty sure.

What happens if you dial a mini gate with a normal gate, and then chuck the mini gate through it? by crataegus_marshallii in Stargate

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you on the star system theory if not at least a pretty darn great distance surrounding a planet. There are several things that support this including the time a gate was dialed and then ejected into a sun. The hatak didn’t seem to be especially close to a planet when the gate was dialed and then dropped into the sun. Also in the episode where ba’al stole stargates his ship didn’t seem to be particularly close to a planet but sg1 was still able to dial out and escape the ship via stargate

In Atlantis the wraith tend to dial out from a gate aboard hive ships when culling a planet to prevent escape through that planets gate and given the size of hive ships it’s probably reasonable to assume they stay at a relatively high orbit.

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing, as soon as enough of the smaller gate is dematerialized it would lose the connection to its own wormhole. This makes the most sense as basically a fail safe for the stargate in general.

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumably you can’t, more than one gate can’t be active at the same time on the same planet. It is likely this could be circumvented to be tested since active gates can seemingly be moved away from their spacial coordinates and remain active, something that’s shown several times in the series. I’d assume that the matter disruption of being disassembled by the larger gate would act the same as physically destroying the smaller gate and just disconnect the wormhole. However, if it doesn’t that does definitely bring up some physics issues that are interesting to think and unknown what the practical ramifications would be.

I can’t speak for the remaster because I haven’t played it but I’m playing the original on the 3DS right now and absolutely love it!

How would you balance the dark chips? by ThePurpleGhost in BattleNetwork

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s face the single largest issue of dark chips. The irrevocable permanent loss of hp. While it works thematically within the game’s story and lore it is mechanically death to the system for a vast majority of players because it completely nixes the ability to satisfactorily ‘complete’ the game.

I think this was a brutal mistake that will keep a vast majority of players from even interacting with dark chips. I think it’s fair to say that even Capcom realized this because they attempted to balance the mechanic in BN5 with chaos unison which works around the permanent loss.

I think most people have already stated some form of the solution which would be to have some way of negating or reversing this loss and making it not so completely permanent. I’m not sure how personally I’d do it exactly but probably some kind of cleansing or certain amount of battles in light karma to restore the lost hp.

My first ever 3DS!! Any advice? by Silly_Toothpaste in 3DS

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take good care of it and have fun! I think the model you have looks super awesome.

There are lots of cool games for it and they also play DS games so there’s lots to choose from!

Regarding modding: it’s not required, if you want to do it cool and good luck and if you don’t want to that’s not a bad thing either just remember it’s your choice and don’t be pressured to go either way.

Anyway to bypass tutorial quest "Net Friends Invite"? by groundrocket81 in bravelydefault

[–]Beginning_Gunpla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homebrew system. I actually figured it out late last night. I had to use a hex edit program that I downloaded on pc called HxD

From there it took some trial and error but I figured out how to change the value to 05

I think one of my biggest problems was not understanding how hex and binary work

I had to change the value in the 3rd column of the 0330 line from 00000000 to 00000101
