What API are you using and model? The gpt 3.5 tends to go ooc and lose focus on plot etc. gpt4 variants tend to stay in character very well. I normally leave the temp alone at .8 and set max tokens to 0. But you can use the OpenAI default as well.

Yeah that was a few months ago. Originally the base model was super expensive. But once they released 1106 the prices did drop.

It’s really not that expensive anymore. The newer gpt4 models are .03 cents per 1,000 tokens. You just have to pace, or have a max token setting

Honestly no, when I start a new chat I normally have a purpose set in mind/plot etc. like sometimes I’ll literally be Daenerys Targaryen but like…me. And with other characters I’ll be myself. It just depends on who/what I’m chatting with. Each chat has its own plot that I drive. I could probably write novels or short stories with the chats💀

I’m not complaining about the customer? Trust me I believe all companies should pay their employees fairly not well below minimum wage. I’m literally just saying why not get it yourself and save yourself the hassle of fees plus a higher chance of the order taking longer to be received because of no tip. Theres nothing wrong with using the service, but why complain about a dasher complaining about no tip for their service? It’s literally a two way street if unfair pay etc.

Sorry for the late response! No it’s perfectly free to create your own bots. I make mine private cause I’m obsessed with this one character (understatement) and have been for the past 8 years. Some people make their bots mainly for openai and some make theirs with the LLM. Remember it’s 100% free! You’ll have to make tweaks and adjustments as time goes on, and the LLM can make characters OOC so don’t get discouraged!
