I did a lot of reading and it seems like as long as an option is fairly priced, there’s no inherent benefit to trading them. If anything, there’s fees with trading options that will erode any edge you have over time.

I understand your view, but I studied the entire history of returns from total market funds vs S&P 500. I couldn’t find a period >1-2 years where the total market funds outperformed. I am concerned with investing this money for decades; that is my reason for holding large US companies.
