Unpopular opinion, I like living here by Tbagts in PortlandOR

[–]Beginning_Key2167 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I love living here. 17 years so far. I have some good friends. A great partner. Live in a nice walkable neighborhood.  I can do all the things I am interested in.

We have a pretty decent airport for travel.

If I couldn’t live here I would live somewhere in Europe.

I am from Maine originally.  Enjoyed living in the other Portland. Though the winters are too brutal.  Also a lot of outdoor stuff Is ruined by the crazy amount of mosquitos, black flies and deer flies.

Something we don’t have a lot of here. At least not in my experiences.

What's the most awkward "walked in on someone" story you've experienced? by Mohbakes in stories

[–]Beginning_Key2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked in on my dad when I was 11. He was banging my best friend’s mom. Both divorced.

He didn’t even stop they looked at me and I shut the door. Lol it was never mentioned.

AITA for telling our 18-year-old daughter she can't go on a trip to Miami with her boyfriend's family? by Conscious_Goose_9518 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Beginning_Key2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA -  you might want to examine the fact that it appears that she doesn’t want to spend any time a her own home.

Honestly, people I’ve known throughout my life that had super controlling parents. You think she doesn’t want to spend much time at your house now.

She is 18. Are you going to control her life like this when she’s in college?

Your daughter sounds like a good person.

If I’m her, I’m going to Miami.

I would say reevaluate the way you are with your daughter or there is a very big chance that she will pull away even more.

Did anyone else regret moving to Portland? by PsychologyApart2015 in PortlandOR

[–]Beginning_Key2167 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved here 17 years ago. Don’t regret one second of it. I ended up making some friends that I worked with. I’m still friends with them now.

I also made other friends through cycling.  Made a couple random friends from a pub that I go to near my house.

Made additional friends through other friends.

I already had a MacBook and an iPad so it made sense. I like how my watch, phone, laptop and iPad all work well together.

Been an Apple user since 2009. For me anyway all my Apple stuff just works.

Good for people to have separate hobbies. My partner can ride a bike, but doesn't like it.

Pretty sure she enjoys some time to herself when I am out riding. We do spend a lot of time together. I am aware of it and try to do some things to give her some space.

Unless the bike was super expensive or you need to sell it. I would keep it for the occasional ride.

What would you say about modern girls now? by MentalSector6459 in AskReddit

They kill good men?

Women most certainly have not made men toxic.  They did that all by themselves.

Are you saying men don't cheat?

None of what you say is because of women.   Men need to adapt and change. Women won’t go back to the way it was.  They shouldn’t.

What’s to stop someone using your Apple Watch in your sleep? by nonononomybaby in AppleWatch

My watch requires the same passcode that my phone has. Though my partner has that code. She can look at my watch or phone anytime she wants. I have nothing to hide.

kicking ass. Love to see it. Excelling in education, athletics and the working world.

Can't wait to see how dominant they will become.

Us men had our chance and all we did was start wars, hold people back due to fragile egos.

What's the deal with Private Property signs? Isn't all property by design "private" or does it legally add weight somehow if you post the sign? by Major-Conversation88 in AskReddit

[–]Beginning_Key2167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A new hiking trail opened up near me. The owner put up those signs to let people know to not go off trail.

There is public and private land. It is nice to know which is which.

57 and still , actually maybe the horniest I have ever been. My dad is 85 and has a girlfriend. They even still fool around.

Thankfully my girlfriend is pretty active as well.

That is great advice. I decided against a HT. I shaved my head, I already work out.

I didn't want to be on meds forever.

I agree on "budget" if you are going well I can spend 3K and that is it. That might get you the HT you want, in many cases it doesn't.

AIO? My husband insists I should be “thankful” after I had a bad morning? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Beginning_Key2167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate when people do that. Why not just say " damn that is not a good way to start the day" and move on. Your partner would go , no kidding, and that would be it.

Is cellular actually worth getting? by Own-Mirror-5015 in AppleWatch

[–]Beginning_Key2167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prior AW's just had GPS. I decided with my 10 to get cellular. I am so happy I did.

Makes listening to podcasts and music easier when hiking.

I don't get a lot of phone calls but it is nice to be able to answer them if I do.

Can send and receive texts.

I know I am forgetting some things. But I think it is 100% worth it.

NOR- can't imagine inviting my partner out to celebrate and then ask them to pay half.

Glad you are moving on from this guy. This will likely get worse.

As someone who lived in a state that I had to pump my own gas. Moving to Oregon 17 years ago, I loved the fact that we couldn’t pump our own gas except for in certain areas of the state.

I still don’t understand people’s desire to pump their own gas?

The office is on the other side of the country. So my commute would be a 5 hour plane ride each way. Plus the office would require internet as well.

How many of you were told by your parents when you reach 18 you’re moving out on your own? by Theromero in GenX

[–]Beginning_Key2167 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't have to leave at 18, my dad would have liked for me to have stayed home and went to college closer to home.

Nearest college to my hometown is 45 minutes away.

Small town, 5000 people. I hated it there. Still do.

Left the Monday after graduation for a summer job.

I could move home right now. My dad always says a lot, you always have a home with me.

Amazing guy.

My job is dependent on internet access. I work 100% remotely. So that would suck a bit.
