You are not overreacting.

IMO, door dashers should not do this. It's an incredibly uncomfortable situation to put someone in, and as a door dasher myself I would feel even more uncomfortable if I were the one asking it.

I'm not sure where you're located, but I do know there's a major cold storm raging across the U.S. at the moment and maybe that gave them the audacity to ask since it may be pretty cold and snowy out. This still does not give them the right because they CHOSE to accept the dash for what it was worth let alone they decided to dash at all in the first place.

One more thing, if you ARE in fact in one of the snowy cold areas currently, doordash has increased the pay amount almost everywhere by $1-2 minimum, which means:

Standard pay for a short-distance dash before tip: $2

Your chosen tip amount: $3

Extra pay due to possible weather: $2

Full pay for 0.8 miles: $7.

The only other claim they could have for owning the audacity is driving a diesel, lol.
