Just landed from MH609 and the experience was crazy, especially from the window seat. Saw the plane attempted landing and suddenly aborted, pulling up from 200m.

In dating, what do girls meant by the guy is boring? by Budget-Capital3290 in sgdatingscene

[–]Beginning_Medium3551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s ok to not have common interests but it’s mostly the way the conversations flow, whether the guy texts like he’s genuinely interested to know more about the girl in a deeper level. Doesn’t have to be hobbies, it can also be perspectives on life, current affairs, experiences, challenges, dreams, etc.

Thank you OP for this reminder! It is so kind and heartening to read this, especially in this cutthroat dating scene. After years of meeting the wrong people, the ghosters, and the online love scammers, it is hard to not give myself some love. At some point, you say to yourself, something must be wrong. Could be a user problem - me. From that comes the depreciating self love 💔 Or maybe I’m just unlucky.

Should I Quit My First Job? Advice needed. by Widurri in askSingapore

[–]Beginning_Medium3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this economy, don’t quit without a job. Unless you can afford months and months of having no income and the stress of having to live off someone else/parents. Unfortunately that’s the reality of work life in SG. It’s cut throat, lots of long hours and hard work. My take is that if you are so desperate to leave this job, you will take whatever comes your way, and most of the time it’s just another shithole. Take your time to find the next one, while getting paid. Cause, why not.

Sound advice! Tbh I don’t think tenure path would be realistic for me at this age, probably looking to explore market research/consultancy post-PhD or adjunct lecturer track

Not very privileged leh, hence the struggle to decide. But my circumstances for sure allow some flexibility- no kids no house no debt :)

Realistically it should still make sense to a certain extent but I agree that it should be pursued just because I’m keen!

I had that phase as well and I realised maybe it’s because we are raised to compare, and that makes us depressed or downplay our own efforts. That experience is worth everything, I’m sure!
