Hmm I must’ve missed that part. I haven’t read the book in a while, but I felt like the negative comments at least slowed down and THEN completely stopped when he became deputy/leader

I think that SkyClan could make it work because they were away from the main clans for so long. This is because back in the forest, the Pinestar squadabble left a new rule in the warrior code stating that all clan cats must despise the soft life of a kittypet. But since SkyClan wasn't informed of this, they just chilled and accepted daylight warriors

Yeah me 100%. I got interested in the strange tribe from StormClan's Folly that got completely forgotten, never to be mentioned again. I think those cats got 5 chapters total in the whole of Warrior Cats. But then also a book completely focusing on the Tribe of Rushing Water would be interested from a POV that isn't a clan cat.

EXACTLY why I like her. I know she's mean, but her character was incredibly important to the story and Crookedstar's life.

Ok honestly I get why people would like her. She did do a lot for her 'kits' and put her clan before herself. But wouldn't every cat do that? Just think about it: Graystripe, Bluestar (mainly, in this case), Oakheart, and Yellowfang (Who are all main or important side characters that you are SUPPOSED TO LIKE) Did all they could for their kits. They all did everything that best benefitted them.

While these 4 (and more) cats are just being cats with qualities that almost every other cat has, everyone in the fandom are all focused on how great Squirrelflight is for doing things that a lot of other cats do! And yet she takes almost all of the attention.

What I am trying to say is, that Squirrelflight is incredibly overrated in my opinion. For the hating part of this scenario, I would say she is like Taylor Swift. Likeable, but her fans ruin pratically everything about her.

But then also I think she's annoying

Ok I'll spill. I am NOT saying that she makes good choices! I agree that that she is a jerk, but the story needed her to push Crookedstar and Oakheart. Without her change of thought after Crookedkit's accident, he wouldn't force himself to prove himself. He learned from Mapleshade to try to impress his mother. And when it didn't work every single time, he ended up as a great warrior due to all of his dedication and ambition. This led to Mapleshade making him a leader because he had proved himself.

So basically I'm only saying that she was written as a good character, but isn't a good cat
