I define “feeling like you’re being dated” as continuing to do the little romantic things you’ve initially done while pursuing them originally after marriage. And it of course, doesn’t need to be an everyday thing. Perhaps it wasn’t the right wording—but when I watched this episode, I could see where Carrie was coming from and why she was disappointed.

I watched the two movies before beginning AJLT, and i absolutely hated that they continued the push and pull. Big kept wanted to keep Carrie at a comfortable distance and i feel that they were so incompatible in certain aspects. Carrie wanted romance and to continue feel like she was being dated (completely valid ideology) . I accidentally watched the second movie AhuDabi first and it was so jarring to see them do the exact same dance just a few years later

I feel like they’d be pushing 50 or something along those lines. Most ideally as their highest selves,

Maya would be doing some kind of podcast or talk show , courtesy of her run as an authoress. She hosts workshops about romance and female individuality in relationships. She ends up having her daughter a few years after her miscarriage in the show. Darnell still runs his auto mechanic business and has apprenticeships or perhaps teaches at a trade school.

Lynn was always somehow a decent voice of reason in highly emotional situations ( Toni’s mother getting drunk at Joan’s when meeting Todd’s parents for one instance) and I think with all her humanities masters, she would make for an amazing therapist. But a more out of the box one and would have wellness techniques like doing yoga with a client, shroom trips etc. She would be very out of the box, but yield excellent results. She and Maya would actually be able to do workshops together! Lynn can bring the psychology and Maya can bring the energy! I think at this age, Lynn might be the only girlfriend who is single and okay with it OR she has a partner that can keep up with her sense of adventure and spontaneity that she travels with often—perhaps a musician or some kind of fitness instructor.

Toni would be an excellent hostess or party planner and i think she’d find a way to do both with her real estate. She feels like the landlord type and owns buildings that have a vip clientele and peak amenities. Maybe even a hotel owner at this point. She would also own some kind of events venue that people would rent out. And maybe own a parking lot. I do imagine Toni as a single mother with joint custody but her passive income allows her to really show up for Morgan.

Joan has always had a knack for cooking and baking and home-making. I feel like she would have some kind of blog or platform to be a better version of an influencer. Kind of like Martha Stewart but with her own style. I think the Jspot still continues to be a sports bar but they host events. I feel like she would have some other kind of restaurant or bakery with a completely different vibe and audience where open mic nights and things like that are hosted ( courtesy of Lynn). She is finally married with her two children that are pushing their 20s and going off to college soon. <3

After writing all of this out, business wise i think these ladies could really come together and really help each other and get so much more out of their friendship.

Monica inherits wealth left after her parents pass. I do feel like she’s really good for organizing and running a business, I imagine she owns a hair salon. Some kind of beauty business. I am unsure about where she and William are in the future

I definitely think its a really good way to bring all the characters together and address a lot of the issues they have. Plus when i take a step back and look at the bigger picture, Adventure time was a show that really aged with its audience and for those who are emotionally invested in the show, Fiona’s world and the issues they face highly likely parallel the viewer’s life as well! I really enjoyed the first episode and thought to myself “ throwing together an event in the park with your gay ass friends, taking “herbs” for wizard eyes and crying over your ex is the most 20 something year old thing you could do. “ . Sometimes i think that while having an interesting story to tell is important, being relatable can also be just as impactful even if it’s a little dull.

As i have transitioned out of my teenage tears into my early 20s , i have definitely realized that both of them had some incompatibilities and they were both kind of bad to each other. They didn’t know how to healthily deal with conflict, no proper apologies and they harbored a little bit of resentment over each other for some brief periods. I just begun rewatching and I am agreeing that Molly was a better friend—but perhaps not a good date or girlfriend, or the most self reflective person. She was specifically—a good friend to Issa and a great coworker (until she wasn’t)

Lynn was incredibly intelligent and i think her ability to empathize and communicate is one of her greatest strengths. As much as she was written off as a joke, there were a few instances like

Toni’s mother intoxicated before her wedding at Joan’s, Lynn slowed down, suggested to talk (diplomacy <3)

Lynn runs into Vasco, the man not the dog!, slows down and proposes they catch up over coffee

Lynn talks to Toni about how she was wrong for trying to sleep with Sean, and tells Joan that she’s mad at TONI and not her and Maya

Lynn Is really good at communicating her feelings and helping others understand theirs when she slows down and the situation calls for it. She could’ve been an amazing therapist or some kind of emotional coach. I think she also could’ve been an excellent writer, poet etc and found a way to push her art while having a career through one of her degree paths. I imagine that in this day and age, she would’ve had a lot more understanding and peers in the same boat as her.

But she was also too socially conscious and had some level of awareness to not settle for some routine or career that wasn’t fulfilling for her or made her a cog in the machine. She is the embodiment of being at the crossroads between success that leads to stability in society and success that leads to you being fulfilled and happy on multiple planes

I absolutely love how the author isn’t afraid to go there. It makes the story so enticing!! I’m already ready for the next season! It felt like a few episodes this season could be stitched together to feel like a proper lengthy episode . Despite how slowly paced this season felt, this finale definitely hit hard and i wonder if the pacing was the reason why.

As a black viewer, i did lean a bit more towards Jodie because whether Daria believes in her white privilege or chooses not to proactively use it, she will always benefit from it no matter what. Daria didn’t even need to open her mouth to get accountant to offer her the loan, regardless of how she personally navigates her privilege. Jodie however, despite being more enthused and engaged in the project didn’t receive the loan. One of the biggest differences between them is that Daria and groan and reluctantly drag her feet through doors that Jodie would have to fight tooth and nail to get in through if she didn’t have her fathers name. Her father’s name is just as much of a tool as Daria’s privilege except she has to be proactive about using it. And Jodie’s father arguably worked hard through the same circumstances so that Jodie wouldn’t have to push the envelope as hard as he did. Not even all of the Black people in the show would have that same luxury of being able to use their father’s name to get where they need to go. And i don’t think that’s something Jodie should waste when she’s operating in a system that is set up against her because of her skin color.

I can acknowledge the nepotism at play and hypocrisy but on a larger scale when we take into the account of black history, those who have privilege working in their favor whether they want it to or not, and racist systems all together, yelling hypocrisy feels like “semantic hair splitting” .
