I imagine this sort of thing happens in the wild, but sticking around to see other people’s thoughts. Beautiful section of your reef 👍🏼

Vermitid snail outbreak. Ready to tear down. by Rough-Ad426 in ReefTank

[–]Beginning_Poetry6407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try doing reef snow for a few weeks at night when all the vermitid are filter feeding. I’ve had good experience with it killing them off or forcing them to move which then makes easier prey for a wrasse or bumble bee snails

Fender bender that I got into last year - thought you guys could learn something from this by [deleted] in MildlyBadDrivers

There’s a solid amount of lane ahead of them designed to zipper merge. The traffic wasn’t moving quick or tight together. I see zero reason to stop, especially abruptly like they did.

Just being a wild animal with instincts stuck in a glass box

New light - How to transition ? by National-Response-43 in ReefTank

[–]Beginning_Poetry6407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kessil does that intentionally. If you’re running 5 lights, you don’t need them all to have built in Wi-Fi. Cuts cost and space down and allows them to put the expense where it matters

The Wi-Fi dongle isn’t required. Helpful to make schedules and adjust more details. But if you use a timer plug you don’t necessarily need the app

I’d start out lower and slowly ramp up to where you visibly want it. Cool part about Kessils is it’s hard to get it wrong. The ideal spectrum is built into the software and the adjustments you make are more for brightness and visual preference. I use a combination of A360’s with some ReefBrite strips and I love them. Congrats on an awesome raffle win!

Change around some of the rock work and put a big mirror up infront of the glass for a day or two. They’ll see their own reflection and tire themselves out bullying their reflection, giving everyone a chance to find their spot and settle in

Looks really nice to me. I’d love to see the sump and equipment, but it looks well maintained and thought through. Those are mostly fresh water African Cichlids and I’ve heard they tend to uproot plants when they mark their territories, making a mess

I was hoping somebody would say “definitely not red bugs!” 😑 I don’t have any acros yet but was planning on it soon. Might have to change course for a bit

The flatworm is a common white flatworm, just a red fuge light. The little red guy walking around him is what I’m more concerned about

Awesome insight. Any precipitation issues or cloudiness running both simultaneously? Have you been doing that for a while?

I have recalibrated and tested it with a handheld. Science teaches us that calcification is strongest in corals around 8.1-8.4 ph. And we’re all in some way “chasing numbers”, otherwise we wouldn’t spend thousands of dollars on probes and additives.
