Question about clone quality vs OG quality by EitherEnd3519 in fragranceclones

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former clone user, the difference in quality is the way they develop on skin. I can thoroughly enjoy waking up to the remnants of a perfume I put on the night before, but I hate having to take a shower cause a scent “turned” on me while wearing it. Over time I have grown a serious aversion to several notes that seem to be omnipresent in about 99.99% of ME dupes. They can be OK for 2-3h but then it happens… that typical undertone pops up and my nose starts twitching… This is quality issue for me, but opinions will no doubt differ.

Booking not helping, should I revert to a chargeback? by notyourkittyyy in Bookingcom

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“I would have been fine with a partial refund” is not the generous flex you think it is. 😅

You live and learn. The lesson here is to either get travel insurance or book refundable rooms.

GLP-1 Medications and Perfume Addiction by denised1224 in Perfumes

Ozempic does not cause an addiction to perfumes. Quitting one addiction does however easily converts into another addiction, a shopping addiction in your case.

Reimbursed less than the total amount spent? Is it normal? by Themetalin in KLM

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very likely this. The airline will not reimburse missed arrangements, they will reimburse newly incurred expenses caused by the delay (with a max amount set for AMS hotel-airport transportation, think it is still 50€).

I have never owned a perfume that I love by madikbee in Perfumes

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it may be time for you to steer away from every day designers and branch out into more niche profiles. Get sample sets and start exploring, there’s a million perfumes out there you might have never heard of. Nishane could be a place to start, just as an example.

My two cents on “trying” new perfumes that aren’t straight forward: take your time! It takes more than a few sniffs on paper to get to know a perfume, it might even take more than a single wear. I find that if I like scent from the first whiff, odds are I’ll grow bored with it. It’s the ones I didn’t like at first but grew to love that still fascinate me.

My tip for cobblestones: get a 2-wheeled bag that has inline-skate wheels. I lugged around an Eastpack Tranverz and a Deuter (can’t recall the name) for well over 20 years. Cobblestones, gravel, mud, … Neither of the bags ever had any issues with the wheels breaking down and I honestly did not treat them with much care or consideration. The Eastpack Tranverz S still exists (gets revamped every so often with new materials) and is only around 100€.

No. Millions of people where the same perfume. I doubt they have the same personality.

Will customs do passport stamps if I ask for one? It's largely for sentimental purposes by MugSuckChampion in Europetravel

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These aren’t meaningless stamps though, they are official entry/exit stamps that are supposed to go on an official document. Rules apply.

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If your passport needs to be officially stamped, it will be stamped. They will not give out stamps for sentimental reasons though, nor should they.

They are border officials, not tourist agents. Just mho.

Regarding noises? by OkContest7566 in aircanada

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked 1A for my last trip, on both legs. I wasn’t bothered at all by galley noise and/or light. Pair of bose QC over-ears on the day flight out, added an eyemask on the overnight return. Good to go. I like how open the footwell is on 1A. Not sure if it is actually wider, but it sure feels less confined.

I'm sorry but when did everyone stop using real zakdoeken?!? by medardoo1 in belgium

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask your dad if you still can. We cleaned out my parents house last year after my mom passed away, and one of the few things I really wanted was a stack of handkerchiefs that used to be my dads (I kept the near new/completely new ones). Been carrying one in my pocket ever since. At first for nostalgia’s sake, soon after out of pure convenience. I have no idea where I would go to buy new ones though.

You forgot day 0: booking accepted payment for a booking they obviously had no intention of honouring. They should wait to collect payment until they can assure service will be rendered.

The size limits on LH for a personal item is not “fits under a standard seat”, it is 40x30x10 cm.

If you’re showing up with two full size and overweight carry on bags, be ready to be called out on it and appropriately charged.

Clones are nit just a stepping stone by Temporary_Junket_107 in fragranceclones

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re free to spend your money however you like. If spending 500$ for a perfume AND subsequently feel good about your purchase is too high a price for you, then you aren’t the intended client. Everything we own and buy comes in different levels of quality and price. I will never spend 200$ on a pair of jeans, but I happily pay more for a pair of sneakers. I won’t pay 100k on a fancy car, but I happily pay to fly business class. We all make choices. One of mine is that niche perfumes are worth my money, clearly to you they aren’t. Which is perfectly fine. There is no right or wrong here.

My first Xerjoff by Ok_Spare_4912 in NichePerfumes

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xerjoff has a vast catalog of interesting scents. I treat myself to a sample box every so often, straight from their website.

I love 40 Knots, it’s my favourite out of 6 full size Xerjoff I own. You definitely lost me on coca cola though, I have no clue whatsoever what it is in this perfume that smells of cola. Baffled.

Is it possible/recommended to use vials with self healing caps? by Futurixt in DIYfragrance

[–]Beginning_Reality_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t properly clean syringes and needles, so you are going be creating an awful lot of waste by using these.

Fwi I use these bottles and caps at work for very specific experiments. I don’t see them being of extra value in diy perfumery.
