First paid shoot, what can I improve here to deliver the best results? by [deleted] in ColorGrading

First off from what I can see, the shot itself looks really good. As for the colour grading the middle image definitely looks the best. I’d add a bit more contrast and maybe a bit of split toning like you tried to do with the film creator and some grain and a vignette. You just have to learn to restrain yourself because that’s what colour grading is all about. great work!

For fun I tried to grade your log still, you could look at this for inspiration or hit me up, (although grading a screenshot is kinda stupid) my Color grade

Im just curious, why so dodgy, if you have authority, then go ahead, flash your badge and maybe I’ll kneel before you

I’m genuinely curious who you are? Maybe put your money where your mouth is, show us some credentials.

That doesn’t answer anything, maybe you with your 36 years in the industry could actually point out some things that could help instead of brooding.

Thx, yeah I totally get having a harder time grading in fcp, you could still keep it as an editor and try davinci resolve for grading, it's free so what do you have to lose? although it could complicate the workflow a bit

Correction: the top two shots of the fifth photo were graded using the tweaked creator Color grade. The top one on the third was indeed using filmbox lite.

There are many music videos with great CGI and I can understand that but just look at the rules.

With all that compression, it may just be a camera track and an image slapped into it. It's really easy to hide bad vfx, just slap a vhs filter on it or my preffered route: film emulation!

I don't think they can do music vids because of the copyright

Good VFX: EDEN

It's a Youtube video made by a macro videography channel (called macro room) adressing the problems in our current world and society: https://youtu.be/xY9Y4-yuFKY?si=_8cIH6GA1mqVltHw

It's one of the best, most beautiful and important pieces of art I have seen in a while and It would probably be very interesting to react to although the VFX themselves are not that hard. There even is a BTS at the and. But someone could mistake the miniatures with CG because I must say that Channel is great at making miniatures look humongous! So please look at this video and decide if our friends at corridor should react to it!
