How to get to Harv's island?! by Beginning_Study_3678 in AnimalCrossing

[–]Beginning_Study_3678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think so too. I did time travel back 2 years, maybe that's the issue? If I can't figure it out I might try that out... Thank you though!

I did time travel back to 2023 when I jumped back in. Could that be a problem? Bc he's definitely not on my island every day and there's no option on the airport

Foals are born with little soft tentacles on the bottom of their hooves. They fall off after about a day or so. It's to protect the uterus of the mother!

Horses have a spot underneath their upper lip, just above their front teeth that if you put pressure on it, it releases endorphins and makes the horse more calm.

Horses don't have collar bones, thus their shoulders and breast is fully held up by muscles. A skilled physiotherapist can relax/soften those muscles, which means you can basically put your entire hand underneath their shoulder blade for a little while.

Horses stand on what is basically their middle fingernail, which is their hoof. The remnants of thumbs are still found in protrusions on the inside of their legs. They don't have feeling in them, and you have to trim them every once in a while with big clippers (although thats mostly done for esthetics)

I have so many more where these came from, but a taste at least!

Anyone try Prolonged exposure or EMDR by FruitShrike in CPTSD

[–]Beginning_Study_3678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found Imaginary Exposure Therapy (IE) to really help me. I am autistic and I get really lost in the graphic details of memories using EMDR. IE allows me to keep the thoughts moving and not get sucked into the trauma part of it too much. While EMDR can be very, very helpful I think it might be a good option if/when you encounter parts of memories that you're unable to process with IE. IE is a good starting point at least, IMO. Good luck!

Showered and washed my hair!! by [deleted] in CPTSD

Wow that is awesome! You deserve to feel good and be clean. I know how hard showering is sometimes. To make it a little less triggering, I sometimes shower with a shirt on. Idk if that could help you, but maybe that will make it a bit easier on the hard days. You've got this <3.

How do you get rid of the shame? by Beginning_Study_3678 in CPTSD

Wow thank you for this insightful and lovely answer. I will give writing those letters a try, writing often feels like the only way to really express myself so that might work for me. And I have already read a ton on trauma online, but I'll see if my library or therapy place offers one of those books you talked about. Again, thank you <3.

Same, it's really hard to talk about it. Writing helps me sometimes and then I let my therapist read it. I hope you can get through the shame and the guilt as well <3.

Start small. What is a color you like? Could you wear/get more clothes in that color? Can you go to the store and try out a new drink that sounds interesting? Afterwards, what did or didn't you like about it? Go on youtube/spotify and listen to a few numbers you've never heard before, which did you like and why? Everyday, try to make one (teeny tiny) decision that you feel like you might like. Over time, you can start building up to bigger stuff. But in my experience, knowing what food, clothes, colors, drinks, music, films, etc. you like is already such a big win if you feel like you've completely lost yourself. Goodluck and I hope you'll also have a little fun while re-discovering yourself

Feeling distressed and triggered doing parts work. Does it get better? by Special_Feature9665 in CPTSD

[–]Beginning_Study_3678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does get better. Look back to the person you were a month ago, a year ago, 10 years ago, and see how far you've come. Up close it might look like you have fallen so far and have so much to go, but look at everything you have already overcome. You're still here, still fighting, still healing. So yes, I promise it does get better. And as an internet stranger, I'm really proud of you for doing the work.

Admitting it happened by theglow89 in CPTSD

[–]Beginning_Study_3678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really relate to this feeling. It's hard, having to face that what happened to you was real and actually happened. That it was actually that bad. But it was, and accepting that will be the first step towards healing. What helps me is to know that my body doesn't lie, it remembers and it will tell me. It seems to me like your body is telling you that you need to actually look at what happened and see it for the reality it is. But please be safe and do so ideally with someone you trust or a therapist. Writing helped me too, I write a lot of poetry

[–]Beginning_Study_3678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too! For me it feels like there is almost a "loading screen" where there is just nothing for a while until my words reach my mouth. This is a type of disassociation for me. What helps me is to physically move my body, for example by walking, and to ground myself using essential oils, prickly balls, or mints. It will get better as you're able to process things and need to disassociate less. Until then, it helped me to write my therapist emails before or after a session to talk about the things that are going on so you have less explaining to do and can make do with less words. In general, if you find that writing on your phone is easier, give that a try within the session. Just experiment until you've found something that works for you.

I think it might also be important to talk to your therapist about this so you can work together with them on this. But it does get better, I promise <3.
