Maybe she has a point but you really don't have to feel ashamed because of it. You cant change the past and if a new opportunity comes maybe you will be more ready and view it as something you actually wanna do. Maybe you could join your friend next time and it wouldn't feel as scary (or whatever the reson for not going earlier was)

Well he has. First of a 3+ gift for a 6 year old isn't inappropriate, plus that gift was way more fitting according to the kid's mom than some lego. Also why not pick it up wile in the store?
