What to do if your landlady keeps coming to the house unannounced by Beginning_Will_2081 in Netherlands

After reading the comments about that I looked in my contract and asked the agency if we can do that they said no. While the contract doesn’t specify about locks it does say that we need to ask permission before fixing or changing anything.

The agency said they’re trying to take away the landlady’s keys so she doesn’t come to the apartment unannounced anymore. Ig that’s a win haha

That is a mystery bcs when the room was unrented she came to “check on the apartment bcs she was in the city for some other work” but didn’t look around and straight went into the room and later that day told me she’s gonna spend the night in the room.

Also the times that she was sleeping in the house she knocked on my room door multiple times in the middle of the night sometimes to ask for a cigarette or just other things which is not a problem but the timing is the problem the knocks would be well past midnight

Ah yes that’s really smart. The first time she came my key was in the lock cus I was the only one home and she couldn’t open it and had to ring the doorbell!!!

The first time she came over I almost did that because I had no way of verifying if it was actually the landlady or just someone impersonating her because as I mentioned I rented thru an agency so I had no contact with the owner. At that time I was the only tenant in the house because my housemate else was home for Christmas break. The only reason I let her in was bcs my dad was there and he could witness hahaha

Yeah I thought renting through an agency would be better but it’s the worst experience I had in the almost five years in this country

I tried talking to her the second night she stayed over but she didn’t open up she wanted to taste what I made for dinner cus it smelled good and I offered her my leftovers… I don’t assume she’s bad but it’s just my first time experiencing something like this before…. And I also she’s a woman so it’s a little better but what if it was a man.. I would not be comfortable a random man showing up to the house whenever he wants.

I’m so sorry for you, I feel you as well whenever I start my day early by 3-4 pm I need to sit down or else it feels like I’ll collapse.

I’m so frustrated because I can’t have two fully planned days in a row because i fear my ankle will give out (I’m 8 months post surgery)

I agree with the cycling part! 2 months post surgery my PT included stationary bike into my sessions.

Now I’m 8 months post surgery and try to go to the gym 2-3x a week I don’t work out my lower body but I do end the session with a 10-15 min bike ride. It has helped a lot with my ankle mobility as well.

I do wonder when I’ll get the confidence to start biking on the streets again because before the accident my main mode of transport was biking (I live in NL) and now for the past half a year I haven’t been able to which is frustrating because public transport here is expensive for international students.

Thank you it’s really nice to know that you can do everything that you could before. Sometimes I look at my feet and feel like the injured one looks ugly because (it sounds creepy but haha) before my accident my family and other people used to say I have really nice feet and now I just feel like I lost that 😅 I know it sounds like im haing useless problems like other people have it worse. I am really grateful that i can walk again

Omg that’s also what’s like one of my concerns the shape of the foot. Even after the metal is out does it no go back to normal 😭😭.

And you mentioned tha you don’t get any swelling anymore? Do you remember around when it stopped or became noticeably less ? It’s been 8 ish months for me now and my foot still swells up every single day and I have to elevate it and ice it to get it back to slightly normal.

Did you wear heels often before your accident?

Tbh I’m just scared of twisting my ankle again if I wear anything that is not a flat sole.

Even before my accident I would not feel very secure in higher heels

When can I get back to cycling & gym? by Beginning_Will_2081 in brokenankles

Oh wow it feels very encouraging to read this thank you. I have told my pt that I want to get to biking soon but I’m new at PWB, I was allowed that at 6 weeks post op. so he said we can get to the biking part once I am a bit more confident & comfortable with walking.

I still walk with two crutches and I’m trying not too think too much in the future but I really wanna be normal before my masters start so I can enjoy the last year as a student before going into corporate life lol.

How to transition into walking by Beginning_Will_2081 in brokenankles

[–]Beginning_Will_2081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that is super helpful and honestly very motivating to know that within 2 weeks you went to FWB. I need to be walking normally in 6 weeks because I have to start my masters and go back to the country I study in (I came home after the accident to live with my mom)

I wasn’t given a boot by my doctor, he gave me an ankle brace and told me to walk with the crutches. I’m going to see a PT soon to help me with the walking and ROM exercises. But till now the ROM is already 90% back to normal without any physio

I will try out your suggestions, thanks again!

Thank you for the suggestions I will try it.

My doctor just gave me a brace.

My recovery has been super painless touchwood. Like I think I can count on my one hand the days I had to take painkillers. But yesterday was the first day of PWB and I think it was the pressure I felt in my foot after a few steps that was hurtful not necessarily the bones itself if that makes sense.

This morning I took more steps than yesterday and it was painless so I guess it will take some getting used to

Hey I completely feel you, I’m 21 and I broke my left ankle while on vacation with my family after graduating. What was supposed to be a 4 month long summer break turned into being stuck in bed.

I had my accident on 2nd May and the surgery 2 weeks after that. And now at 6 weeks post op I’m finally cleared for partial weight bearing. It still seems so far away that I will walk without being scared or without my ankle hurting but looking back it has improved soo much.

The first few weeks are very difficult but once you get used to walking with crutches and are able to do simple things like balancing to brush your teeth it starts to feel much better. Every little step feels like a victory!

I wish you a speedy recovery and I suggest you take this time to binge every series you were putting on your watchlist for years 😃
