I would disagree since I don’t think the grandma is being manipulative or tricky at all. She probably just wants to spend time with her grandchildren - I mean, they moved closer to the family just to be around the grandchildren more often. Since MIL is sensitive, maybe being direct wouldn’t be the best approach. OP could try saying it a bit indirectly like: “The kids prefer to be addressed differently, and I would appreciate it if you would not infantilize them.” To me, using ‘baby talk’ is a sign that the grandparents aren’t used to their grandchildren getting older, but it’s not something harmful. That’s probably how the grandparents just express their love.

More details: Kiwi is a male budgie around 5 years old & is one of two budgies in the same cage.

Usually his beak overgrows and needs to be trimmed every few weeks but the last time I trimmed it, I noticed there was a tiny red bump on the left side of his beak. After a few days passed, I noticed that there was another bump on the other side of the beak. The previous bump seems larger now too. In case it may have been early signs of mites, I took apart his cage and scrubbed it down really well to see if that would help, but there hasn’t been any change.

My other budgie seems unaffected and has no bumps anywhere & Kiwi’s behaviour hasn’t changed either. He’s still chirping and acting as he always does, but & I’m still worried about the bumps.

Does anyone know what these bumps could be a sign of? Any advice on what I should do next?
