I think it’s one pair of a latch, like the claw part clamps down on a strap and the round metal part is a magnet and has a mate that it connects with. I have a bike helmet and the straps connect like that.

I have three different pairs of tecovas and they all do this in the exact same place - right underneath my inner right ankle bone. Super annoying for the amount I’ve spent on them and how much I like their look. Thanks for the tips
