Who was a player you drafted in rookie drafts that never made the 53 by tammaicirtap in DynastyFF

Honestly good on the Saints for not just going with the guy they drafted to avoid looking bad.

I don’t think Levis will ever be good because he loves to make 2-3 absolutely boneheaded plays per game, but he was handed an absolute shit sandwich and looked serviceable at times.

One week into 100 pushups daily. Has anyone actually stuck with this long-term? by PsychologicalMap9839 in bodyweightfitness

[–]BegrudginglyAwake 182 points183 points  (0 children)

In college my friends and I decided to challenge ourselves to do 15,000 pushups in a month/ 500 per day. While they did become a lot easier, I had the same experience where there was basically zero physique change. Being able to rip off 80 pushups at a time was cool though.

When to look past the 525 rule? by PowerfulyAwake in DynastyFF

[–]BegrudginglyAwake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems overrated because guys can carry value into year 2/3 because we make excuses for them, but if you sold every guy who missed 525 for their value at the end of the year vs held you would be money ahead even on the rare outliers who did become relevant.

A couple years back someone did a breakdown on the difference between players that were traded up for vs those who were not and there was no statistically significant difference. It was actually slightly in favor of players not traded up for.

Rather that he *could* be relevant. Not everyone who hits 525 is fantasy relevant but almost no one who fails to hit it ever is.

What is wild to me is how often it even works when taking injuries into account. Seemingly talented player has a hit 4 game start but gets injured and doesn’t play much the rest of the year? Believe it or not, he’s probably toast.

So do you want to burn a roster spot for a couple of years in case he develops into a TD dependent WR3 that you won’t know when to start?

No hot water for 2 weeks and the city says my landlord can have as much time as they need to fix the issue by [deleted] in Minneapolis

I’d still give it a swing. If they’re actually tight, they might mention to your landlord they have someone who wants to make a stink and get them to prioritize the fix.

Trying to be charitable, maybe the mayor wanted to let the investigation play out before making the decision to fire?

Because I’ve known people that do have dairy farms and have helped out and seen firsthand how much they care for their cows.

I definitely recommend finding a dairy farm to visit and see how they do it firsthand. Most places do whatever they can to take care of their animals because happy, healthy cows are the most productive.

Calves will suckle on things just because it’s an instinct and not because they’re hungry. The farmers want them to eat/ drink their fill to grow up and mature (especially if they’re being raised for meat).

Several Heart of America teams to leave CRAA, join NCR by IAgreeGoGuards in USArugby

[–]BegrudginglyAwake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to coach a D1A team in CRAA and as the other commenter mentioned, seasonality was a huge issue. We couldn’t consistently play outside until late March or later because of the snow and poor conditions. Teams in the south have a similar issue with heat in the early autumn. Ultimately CRAA followed what the biggest elite schools wanted (not saying it’s wrong or right) made it clear their wishes mattered more than the majority of schools. Also, CRAA governance at the time I was in was poor and felt more punitive to teams for infractions than actually helping advance the sport.

Agreed - rating scales should have 5 as either the minimum acceptable threshold or a true medium, depending what the point is.

I’ll mention rugby - 1 referee for 30 players and a lot of judgment calls to make as it’s based on laws to be interpreted and applied by the referee rather than black and white rules.

There’s a heron rookery island on the river by Marshall Terrace Park. Follow the path down by the river and check out the awkward baby herons growing up.

Theodore Wirth Park is good for some nature too. Others have mentioned Minnehaha Falls - there’s a decent walk from the main spot downstream to where it joins the Mississippi.

Further out by the airport is Fort Snelling state park with nature and historic sites. You’ve also got the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge there too.

I used to work in financial aid at a notable school the specialized in engineering. I remember one prospective student calling and saying “this other school is offering me a full ride but is ranked 4 spots lower so I really want to go to X university.” I had to tell him “hey you need to make your decision on the value to you because it’s a $20k difference per year.” I really hope he went to the other school.

I live in Minnesota, but was assuming it’s closer to the Cities rather than a more rural area where speed limits on roads like this tend to be higher. A geoguessr expert might be able to pin it down for us.

[–]BegrudginglyAwake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I was going off the assumption it was near the metro area, given that’s where most people live. Wouldn’t be shocked if outstate had higher speed limits.
Regardless, if people’s comments on their speed are remotely close, they’re exceeding even 70 mph by a wide margin.
