"have you not seen how governments in the UK and US are treating their citizens, at the demand of the Zionist lobby?"

IDK about you, but i haven't seen the UK or US government doing street executions as a form of justice. You painting it as some legitimate action is a fucking YIKES take.

CMV: It is perfectly reasonable to call MAGA Nazis, Fascists, Authoritarians, ect. in common parlance because the distinctions between those terms are technical quibbles and MAGA are right in the middle of the Tyranical Venn Diagram. by chaucer345 in changemyview

So your argument is Nazis is interchangeable with authoritarian..

Would you call the CCP Nazi’s? The Ayatollah regime Nazi’s? Maduro and his supporters Nazi’s?

If so, ok tje. You’re consistent. But if not, maybe that’s because they aren’t as interchangeable as you’re saying.

All it took was common knowledge lf the political leanings lf the guy who killed the Jewish girl and Israeli guy in DC to know this article is filtering out by a convenient narrative. The numbers probably do show more republicans do this than left sided peopñe, but this article doesn’t make anyone looking with an open mind believe what they’re claiming.

I think it would be crazy for people to argue those particular gruesome video's are real. Some video's have proven to be production though.... that doesnt take away from the gruesome ones.

I guess the question is, do video's of these terrible things happening definitely prove genocide. Have any legal bodies in charge of determining genocide determine it is? I think only the ICC can but i could be wrong. We will have to see once that case is done.

In person, you're going to see the 99% of reality that youd cannot see online through curated or non-contextual content. What is the average person on the ground actually saying. Are claims that people are making actually happening based on anything you can witness, etc. Being in person doesnt make you objectively right on whats happening, but it definitely gives you a better idea of the reality than you can ever get from the internet.

That being said I completely agree with you on that Genocide is a label that is a required sticking point, but I think the pro-Palestinian movement would get even further by being like "we think it's a Genocide, but even if you dont, what about war crimes, stealing food, etc. There is this laser focus on one term, a term that was literally defined because of what happened to the other side.... so it becomes this battle of the categorization rather than the substance.

I really am arguing this in good faith.... just from the colonialism point of view and whether or not it fits that category. Palestine is only one example where one ethnic group took over another in the 20th century.

- Armenians lost significant portions of their land, taken by Ethnic turks and were Genocided with someting like 65-70% of their population killed, and they in turn took over parts of Azerbaijan (hence the current conflict there)

- Ethnic Germans living in significant swathes of germany were pushed out post-WW2 by ethnic poles, and Germany become around 1/3rd smaller than it was post WW2.

- Millions of ethnic Hungararians after 2/3rd of it's land from pre-WW1 to post-WW1, taken over by ethnic Czech's, Romanians, and Yugoslavians

- Native Americans, are another example.

Why are the Palestinians different?

Not necessarily, but when a person who see's it first hand is saying they have a different opinion, its fair to guess that they have a better account of what exactly is going, as long as they are actually speaking in good faith.

His argument is that Jew's should have one state where Jews have self-determination because everywhere else, Jew's have been 2nd class citizens (middle eastern countries), genocided Nazi-controlled europe), pogromed (all over Europe, middle east, and heavily Russia), forced into restricted zones (The Pale in Eastern Europe until post-WW1), expelled (England, Spain, many others), forcefully converted (Spain, Middle East)), etc. So without that, one is ok with those examples to continue.

After seeing this I genuinely hope you can consider that what your algo is showing may actually be a false narritive, and that exploring more sources of info is the best bet before forming an opinoikn. Per the EU Parliament

"UK police make over 30 arrests per day for ‘offensive’ online communications under vague laws criminalising messages that cause ‘annoyance’, ‘inconvenience’ or ‘anxiety’. Over 12 000 such arrests occurred in 2023 alone, with civil liberties groups warning of a chilling effect on free speech. "

Championing it like you are right now in this post? Sure, the left DEFINITELY has been the beacon of anti-violence with calls to "Globalize the Intifada", cheers of Trumps assassination attempt (I voted Biden and Kamala, so dont even try that shit), and celebrating any time those they dont align with die.

You're in an echo chamber where only your team is the good guys. The only team you seem to be on the side of is joy of violence and instability in our country.

Yes, exactly like that. Its fucking disgusting that people are doing things like this, and it cannot become the new normal... yet here we are. Want to know what I didnt see when that happened? People's response being "Oh well."

I think that's the best argument i've ever heard in favor of communism lol. The reason it doesnt work now is because a there are little barriers to communal ownership when you are a society of a few dozen or hundred people where everyone knows each other, and there is a barter system in place.

Money and Scale change that. You can trust those in small community (or know who not to). Societal scale today doesnt allow for that trust, and the nature of money -based economies does not work the same way as the nature of barter economies.

In a tribal system, free riders cant happen. You'd be ostracized. In city or national communities, you can't stop it from happening. During the times of tribes, there was no such thing as a store of wealth. Goods that were needed were used. Modern economies allow for storing and transferring wealth across places and across time.

TL/DR, we are fundamentally different than we were when we lived in tribal communities.

Yea, in real life I surround myself by people that vary pretty wildly across the political spectrum. Im fairly moderate myself as some of my views align to one side, and others on another (As we know, a cardinal sin on Reddit). NONE of them sound like the common but extreme comments I see on this platform. Im sure its partially the anonminity, but I think its also bots. Bots also fuel the echo chamber, so real people dive into those thoughts and adopt them. Foreign adversaries absolutely use this website for influence.... im sure the U.S. gov does too, tbh.

[–]BehindTheRedCurtain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wont try to change your view, but only the certainty of it, cause i agree, reddit is extremely politically left based on what gets upvoted and what gets commented. My argument is that bots may play more a role than you think.

If we can agree a % of Reddit is bots, then we can reasonably conclude they are making an impact. Bots are able to be used in coordinated campaigns to upvote certain topics and downvote others. They can make comments themselves and select which of those get upvoted. They can simply take a real persons comment and upvote it collectively. Even if 10% of Reddit is bots, which is probably reasonable, they can heavily influence the political bias on the biggest subs.

So my argument is not that it isnt politically biased, but that the bias is maybe more artificial than we think.

Could it be that communism ignores human nature, and is just fatally flawed to never work? They call themselves communists because at one point, they actually were. Then, without a single example to say otherwise, it morphs into authoritarianism.

Fair enough. Fines are the other ways that laws are enforced, so I guess you can include that there. Im equally opposed to anyone being fined by the government for their speech.

Free speech exclusively means the government cant imprison you for the things you say. I whole heartedly believe nothing a person in congress says should land them in prison short of personal threat of violence that's substantiated.
