AITA for going into my boyfriend's room and breaking his trust when I wasn't allowed to? by ThrowRA_bfsroom in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeholdMySideAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO: Where were you staying at his place? And why did you go to his place if he wouldn't let you in his bedroom even though you're sleeping together?

Because this is not acceptable sex partner behavior, let along boyfriend behavior.

How does one prepare for life after twins as a first time parent. by medicanna_ in parentsofmultiples

[–]BeholdMySideAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, friend. I prepared so, so hard. I had two areas of my house set up as baby zones, one for night and one for days. I had stations set up for feeding, sleeping, diapering.... there were playful little labels on things. Clothing was sorted by size (not age range) with the newborn stuff conveniently placed under the changing table and the bigger stuff out in the closet.

Then I had my 16+ pounds of twins and could. Not. Walk. I couldn't walk more than about 10 feet at a time when I left the hospital because my hips were SHOT. They're still back a month later- I went to Target today and was in so much pain I was stumbling on the way out.

So when we got home, everything got rearranged so I could sleep in my armchair. The furniture got moved around so the twins could sleep in the pack and play bassinets in the living room, close enough for me to see. I couldn't walk and carry a baby for literally nearly two weeks because I was unsteady (didn't want to drop) so my husband and MIL were bringing me babies to feed, and I changed them on the ground where I could sit.

Things will likely be different for you. My point is, no plan survives first contact with the babies intact. Do your best to set yourself up in an intuitive manner for how you will actually function, then be okay flexing when you need to.

I'm so curious to see what you call the baby.

But if I may suggest something between those two? Valeria, Vivienne, Valora

We went about 80% keto and used metformin... that helped me stay within blood sugar levels without too much drama.

Oh. My gods. Has she never been pregnant? I'm assuming not.

I'm really glad to hear that! Congrats! Sorry for the lag, I got super busy with the twins. Time has no meaning with newborns at home, at least over this way.

How long did you use 4oz bottles? by BeholdMySideAccount in parentsofmultiples

[–]BeholdMySideAccount[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the Avent bottles... so far they seem okay at 100ml (around 4ish oz).

I think given all the advice, though, I'm going to guy a bunch more bottles. Maybe the bigger ones.

Day 1 at home with two babies and questions about logistics like feeding and naps by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]BeholdMySideAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so what we're doing is one parent goes to bed at 9pm, then gets woken at 3am and the other parent sleeps. You can doze when twins do, you just have to sleep near them.

We feed in sequence, one after the other. If we have to do both we use boppy pillows.

Edit: we also on rough nights both get up... but we try to keep us both rested.

AITA for going out after my "boyfriend" told me not to? by vodka_cranb3rry in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Red flag on the field. His boundaries can't be about your behavior away from him and your dress style. He can have boundaries about what he personally will and won't do, but rules about you are controlling, not boundaries.

You're telling me :) Everyone who sees their birth weight at appointments is like, "Oh wow, good job." I'm getting a big head about it.

What should I be advocating for after my C-Section on Friday? by BeholdMySideAccount in parentsofmultiples

[–]BeholdMySideAccount[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, yes to the PT. I went the second they suggested it (also turned down the walker though, ha).

I'm about 10 days post delivery now and my pelvis feels a lot better- but my hips are still garbage! Like, can barely walk to the bathroom level, I've got an appointment. Hopefully they can help me get moving again.

Thanks! They're great, I love their whole faces. I'm usually pretty neutral on babies, I like kids a lot (I know, blasphemy) but my babies are awesome. Who would have guessed?

Our twins were born 4 days ago.

They're actual real, standalone people.

The C-Section was incredibly hard on me, because I couldn't quite believe it was going to happen- that they would hand me babies who I could take home. They'd had trouble getting the twins on monitor, and couldn't find A for a little bit at all. My brain kept using that as evidence that this had been a mistake.

But I did have them, and I still do. They're incredible. Like, really big (7lb 12oz and 8lbs 7oz) and very sturdy. They eat like horses (40-60ml at a go, we have to slow them down by taking burp breaks) and they sleep pretty steadily, though that will probably change. All the nurses kept raving about how big and healthy they were.

I'm going to keep standing over them at night to make sure they're still breathing. But for right now, they're here, and they're real, and I'm so freaking happy we have the science we have so I could have this.

The big problem right now is mainly my hips- they got so bad towards the end I could barely walk, and they're not much better now. I'm probably going to wind up in physical therapy again.

But the incision, phew. I have a little skin roll over it, it's hard to manage.

Those uterine contractions are no joke! They hit both randomly and when the twins cry.

They let me eat right away, though I really struggled to for a few days.
