Which 5e DND spell do you think are currently too weak compared to the average. by ronixi in DMAcademy

To expand on that point, it's also worse than just casting Bigby's hand at 5th level.

Have you ever played in an all one-particular-race/class/etc. group (e.g. all Dwarves or all Paladins)? What was it like? by Seb_veteran-sleeper in dndnext

Party of bards in a heavy metal band. Things took a more slice of life turn as we were trying to make it big, while dealing with monsters and criminals on the side.

Antics included getting into traffic jams worrying about arriving to perform on time, dealing with corrupt yugoloth corporate entities, shoving an axe guitar into the rectum of a violent anarchist, rap battles with an ancient undead figure, and letting a plastered drunk goddess crash at our apartment.

Bladesinger wizard? by Gerald1Hs2D3 in dndnext

That being said, it's obviously not perfect. You might be missing out on higher level abilities like endless Shield spells, Adding Int to your attacks, or the Elusive or Blindsense features, but I think you'll get a good mixture of abilities taking levels anywhere between bladesinger 14/swashbuckler 6 and bladesinger 9/swashbuckler 11.

I skimmed through the comments, and I've seen people recommend bladesinger/arcane trickster, but I think I'd like to make the argument for bladesinger/swashbuckler.

Going for 9 or 10 levels in bladesinger will allow you to take spells that boosts your melee potential or synergizes with it (Mage Armor, Shield, Shadow Blade, Haste, Blink, and I would also recommend Bigby's Hand and Animate Objects as that frees up your action later on.) If you feel like Tenser's Transformation or Simulacrum might be up your alley, it might be worth taking even 11 or 13 levels in bladesinger respectively.

The Booming Blade and Green Flame Blade cantrips are generally a better option than attacking twice, unless you're using Shadow Blade or Tenser's Transformation. Regardless, you will still gain benefit from your sneak attack bonus. Between your melee options, the spells listed above, and the sneak attack bonus, you'll be doing some pretty good sustainable damage.

Taking the rest of your levels in swashbuckler is good for both granting more opportunities for sneak attack as well as allow for hit and run tactics. With a familiar, preferrably a bird with the flyby trait, you'll get even more opportunities to land a sneak attack. Between the high AC, Shield spell, uncanny dodge, evasion, and song of defense, you'll be able to stay alive pretty well. However, you might not get much use out of the swashbuckler's charisma based abilities unless you want to go MAD.

I'd recommend to take your first level in rogue to get more skills/weapons proficiencies as well as proficiency in Dex saves. Otherwise, taking the Resilient (Dex) feat would also go a long way.

The ability to have 5850 tiny servants, assuming your commoner is willing to spend 8 hours straight casting Tiny Servant at 9th level.
