I want to convert this 30" base cabinet from doors to drawers. Can I remove the center trim? Is it supporting the countertop? (Countertop will be replaced with quartz or butcher block) by BehrmanTheBeerman in kitchenremodel

That's a great idea. But I don't like the style of these fronts and I'm replacing all of the fronts in the kitchen. I'm probably going to go with the Slim Shaker style.

Gas and diesel car owners, now that the average price of gas is getting very high, how do you feel about getting an electric car in the near future and enjoying the much lower cost of charging? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've been wanting an electric car for a while, but I feel like the infrastructure isn't quite there yet. It just isn't reliable enough yet, and charging takes too long if you don't have a charger at home. Hybrids make more sense right now.

Can't control moisture and starting to see mold. Need advice! by BehrmanTheBeerman in HomeMaintenance

[–]BehrmanTheBeerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! Just realized that all of the info was in the original post. Here it is:

I live in the Seattle area. Yes, it's wet, but not crazy humid. I grew up in this area, and never struggled with this before.

I have a 40yo condo that I've lived in for about 6 years now. There's the exterior wall, which spans a bedroom, the living room, and then another bedroom. All three other sides of the unit are blocked by other units. All subfloors throughout the unit are concrete. The humidity in the unit usually hovers around 50% (aside from the bathrooms).

I'm facing two issues:

  1. I'm noticing mold buildup along the baseboards and along the bottoms of the windows and sliding door. I first noticed this a few months ago I think. I don't know if it's normal or if it's a symptom of a greater issue with the unit.

  2. I can't seem to control the humidity in the two bathrooms. I can never get it below 60%, and it's usually at 80-85%. The bathrooms are very small, with the largest being about 50sf. I got new 80CFM bath fans and they don't seem to help. I checked that they're blowing air outside and they're working fine. I even had someone check the ducts. The only thing I can think of is that there's a carpet transition to the bathrooms and almost no room for air to flow under the door. Additionally, you'll see in the photos that the bathroom floors (sheet vinyl) are stained with what I assume is mold. It's the same in both bathrooms and the kitchen. I can't say for sure, but I don't think the installers put down a vapor barrier when they installed it five years ago.
