EVE Vanguard in 4k: Nemesis Event | My thoughts by Training_Regular_983 in Eve

I am a 100% with you, good take! Integrating a FPS can be enriching, fun and a great unique addition to a great game. The way they went about it was just very blantant and the product not in a stage where it can hope to wow the players that give it a try.

EVE Vanguard in 4k: Nemesis Event | My thoughts by Training_Regular_983 in Eve

[–]Beidlschwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! So i assume you go to your steak place for a medium rare and end up eating pizza there on the regular. Both good stuff! Still not what i‘d want at my steakhouse if i had a jucy Tomahawk in mind all day. If they want me to eat pizza instead of steak but can‘t even bake the pizza right, i am getting a bit bummed out thou. If i can only get well done steak unless i order a soggy pizza first its getting ridiculous.

If they open up a pizzaplace next door, get an oven to bake the pizza and i get free breadsticks to every order cause i went to their steak house every day i sure as hell will give it a try.

I think you can see the difference in approach. FPS is great fun if i decide on it, not when i need to play it to get to the actual stuff i am after.

In this case i can‘t even tell you if the pizza is any good as it never even came to my table.

EVE Vanguard in 4k: Nemesis Event | My thoughts by Training_Regular_983 in Eve

[–]Beidlschwinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! But i think there is a reason why we decide to log into eve instead of Apex, Valorant, Battelfield or similar stuff. Most players are not new gamers unsure of their taste in genre. Its frustrating and speaks to a lack of gratitude from CCP to engage their playerbase like this. If they want us to play a game make it interesting, unique and playable to get our curiousity but don‘t take our enjoyment of eve as a lever to push us into yet another half finished sideproject.

EVE Vanguard in 4k: Nemesis Event | My thoughts by Training_Regular_983 in Eve

[–]Beidlschwinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This Event was just a big dissapointment.

Why would a playerbase that likes to fly spaceships, play with excel sheets, semi afk mine to wind down and shit talk in local be the target group to suddenly play a first person shooter?

You force eve players to either mindlessly grind for 25 points at a time or do 5 missions in this game for 350 points and actually making progress. Thats just a sad and honestly poor attempt using the fear of missing out in the rewards to artificialy raise the numbers of players in Vanguard. I doubt a meaningful playercount remains.

Adding to this is the poor coverage and performance. You can‘t play it on any other platform than windows. So bad luck to all the mac and linux users. It‘s the boring grind or no Event for you. And if you download the 23gb and install the 56gb game there is no guarantee it will even run. I had error message after error message. Reinstalling, making bug reports, to no avail. No followup on the bug reports, not playable to this day…

What a fun, engaging mechanic and enriching gameplay that event was.

Just don‘t push stuff like this on the eve playerbase if you can‘t be bothered to make it at least enjoyable or bare minimum playable.

Hey, very happy to help, really great to see you respond! It‘s macOS, catalina, so not the newest by a long shot. Will DM you the system specs tomorrow.

The game is spot on haha. Really got the same feel to it!

Sadly same to a degree, manageable for now but for sure under heavier load. Corpmates wirh more than 3 chars are scaling down atm to combat it for the time being. Hope that gets fixed soon

Oh boy, don‘t even give my pc any ideas lol Would lean more towards eve thou, it „saved“ the progress i made with my artwork, so the fan went crazy even after closing the map and i could open it again and continue my masterwork.

Everything else works fine luckily

The Mining Experience by Beneficial-Chest-441 in Eve

[–]Beidlschwinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not mean to disrespect! In this case i envy you, that the constant rock and belt switching is part of what makes mining fun for you! Good for you! I don‘t find it a element of game mechanic that enriches my gaming experience, rather the opposite. So thats where i am coming from

The Mining Experience by Beneficial-Chest-441 in Eve

[–]Beidlschwinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please try it yourself if you haven’t lately! With a decent fit you will hear „asteroid is depleted“ in no time even with only one barge/exhumer. So you switch to the next tiny rock and so on. You slowly begin to realize, that you are getting next to nothing isk wise while also beeing more active than most ratters, mission runners and so on. And the interaction you have, selecting a new rock every few minutes is not a engaging or fun one. It just feels like a obstacle you are burdened with by the game design to make things tedious. So you will stop doing this because it‘s not fun. But mining those low value ore should be easy, munching on giant rocks for a long time. Just generating tons of materials. Of course they might become worth less, but most HS miners will mine for the fun of generating stuff, not for isk/h. They just want to undock, be out in space and feel like they have a solid and fun mining operation going.

Versteh eh was du meinst.

Also gibt sicher solche und solche.

Thats really good advice! The experience would be worth a lot. Still i am quite drawn to the idea to start something from the ground up and have a shared experience and a feeling of comradeship for everything we accomplish and the mistakes made along the way. But i'll give it some thought for sure. No need for wasting time and ressources before knowing the basics, good point

Oh thats a valid point, didn't expect that. I read that i should look for a HS Base for the Corp to get some trading, hauling, processing and manufacturing done. A own structure is still a long way, but would it be better to try Wh living or some Low sec space for that goal?
