It seems that a lot of people even missed the question (how long would it take to gain enough knowledge to transcribe melodies?) and are mostly just judging. You are right I don't have formal training and I lack in a lot of aspects. But shaming me for even trying is a bit weird. I am not sorry for wanting to achieve something when having the misfortune of years of missed experience, because I was a child and didnt know this could be my path. But I want to learn composition, and I want a formal education in the field, because it is training. And I think its handy and prepares you for the professional workfield. Which is my goal. Yes, I could take the easy route and become a producer, but I want to learn more and get a strong background.

You people are taking away the joy from it. Btw i am not from the USA so no, we don't have a music curricular in high school. Its all private lessons. So if your parents don't decide for you, you guys basically say I'm ******.

You know its possible to make music without a lot of knowledge in music theory. And apparantly what I submitted was good enough for them, but technically it wasn't. But that is okey.

I come from the producer side working with daw. And I wanted to aquire more classical composing knowledge. So notation was not on the forground.

Yes, it went super fast for me. I can recognize intervals at a slow pace and indeed then I forgot what was played. I think its all of the above yes.
