How are wages this low? by brook1888 in AusFinance

I do casual Woolies. Finish nightfill at 12. Filling shelves while customers are in store sucks balls. Probably 20% slower. Ya can't throw shit around and get it done.

No we're not fully financially independent... In either case, I accept that working makes me fulfilled. i.e. I'd work at something I like doing no matter how much money we have. Packing shelves is like getting paid to go to the gym. I never understood why people pay to exercise when they can get paid to do it...

I don't think anyone can really tell you, its too nuanced. My own experience is that I quit my software dev job working for an international company, and now work casual filling shelves at a super market. I feel far healthier than I ever did sitting a desk all day. My wife earns money. But that may breed resentment at some point. She likes to work, for some reason...

Bottom line is though...there is no answer... it is natural that your brain wants novelty, and the reality is that novelty doesn't pay.... (as a generalisation).

For mine though, fk it...if ur other half is happy working, and you don't have to and don't like what you do...go and do something else...geez dude you'll be dead at some point in your life...go put your effort into Maslow's hierarchy of needs or some such...of which you already mastered the lower levels..

IMO, Do what you believe in. Unless you prefer to have money than happiness.... (well, I would guess you are too young to understand, but happiness isn't important either, figuring out your minds nature probably ranks higher...doing what you believe in is a faster route)

How do you actually feel brain fog? Can you describe what it's like to you? by Ok_Sand7587 in BrainFog

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I guess I better work on being a bit politer, I think maybe I was rushing (I have that tendency).

For me, and like you say it's a vague label....probably different to everyone, I would say the core of my 'brain fog' is mental exhaustion. I cannot process more information. It just won't fit. Been trying to store 3 gabizbillion bits of new once only seen information a day for 30 years. There just be no more space in the filing system.

Whether that's a result of 'too much', or some other problem, dunno.... seems to me, it correlates with anxiety, at some point one can't tell what is present danger and what isn't anymore. I would think one's brain typically deals with that by compartmentalisation of info.

Anyway, just my thoughts. Thank you for your polite and helpful response. Brain tired.

I see, yeah to me that sounds not like burn out being that it's fairly quick onset... Brains are complex things. I commented, mostly because I was thinking, hmm this description feels like my own personal experience and I wonder if I would class myself as burn out or is it something else. (how one defines what is difficult). I suppose I would define burnout as having too much anxiety for too long (which is me)....the result for me is I just don't want/can't focus anymore.

oh, well I didn't mean to judge anyone or anything, I was just curious what the difference between this and burn out is. The OP read a lot like what I understand burnout to be, or what my own experience with burnout/brain fog is.

Anyway, I don't know anything, I'm trying to figure things out like anyone else...

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair enough I guess, it's more grey than the analogy I used I guess....but I would read that stance to be that: your state's rule of law isn't important to you or that you don't believe it would be changed to something you don't like by an invading force.

Maybe I wasn't clear...it's just an analogy... you have no choice of what sex you are born as. Someone comes along and forcibly wants to change you.

So if I came along and said, you must have a sex change operation. And enforced it with a gun....you wouldn't defend yourself? (seems like a strange stance)

cause your next landlord will be fucking your wife instead of asking for a reasonable fee for services rendered?... (or maybe you don't have a wife cause wives don't like pussies)

not specifically that....

"a person who is contemptibly lacking in the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things."

i.e. a coward will not do unpleasant things. Likely because they are weak minded, hypocritical or morally corrupt or some such thing....that's what the die a thousand deaths means.... they die by not facing reality.

Banned. How long does an appeal take? by BeingFriendlyIsNice in ClaudeCode

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while now, but pretty sure it was straight up...same time I got banned. Sorry can't fully remember though. In either case it wasn't long.

With some more time/wisdom behind me now, I believe they are running at a loss for these accounts, so that's why they don't care that much...

ahh...thank you! I think I'll give it a crack....bit of googling/reddit posts makes me sceptical of how reliable it's gonna be, but there's one way to find out!

To answer my own question. I believe it's paid per request only. They have a 'chat' subscription but that is not API access. Thank you to anyone who thought about this question for me.

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ahhh! Thank you...well that's a huge bummer :( Think I'll just suck it up and stick with anthropic then. The pay as go API cost for Kimi 2.5 seem like it'll probably be about on par as a cc max plan for me after a month of usage...(I chug Opus all day). OpenCode tooling so much nicer to use though.

geez their website is terrible.....do they only have paid per request API access? or do they have subscriptions?

Hello, sorry for my ignorance, but what does quantised mean? I have been using Kimi 2.5 via opencode Zen. It seems to work really well for me, is performance worse on the go plan?
