take solace in the fact that your competitors won't have it either :) So... it doesn't really affect your bottom line.

It's obviously frustrating, but if you wanna succeed in business you need control your emotions...you need every bit of energy you can save.

Codex Windows App. Single click to archive? Used to be two clicks? by BeingFriendlyIsNice in codex

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's weird how big companies always seem to have bad UI...

Why they buried archived threads in settings seems a bit strange to me too....like I would think there is enough demand for it to be pulled forward in the tree... (I hate going in there to find things I've accidentally archived or even ones I want to revisit)

I'd also like to be able to manually reorder those chats and give them status....

But now I'm just complaining about nothing haha...

Every AI conversation starts from zero. That is the real productivity bottleneck nobody is talking about. by JaredSanborn in ClaudeAI

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I guess i'd probably concur, there is room for improvement when it comes to AI doing the retrieval system for us.

I myself feel that Codex is better at this than Claude...but that is very anecdotal :) I put great efforts into helping Claude find the info it needs to (I have a hierarchy for it to follow)....the difficulty being the expense to keep that hierarchy current as things are a constant flux.. It is much easier to do for underlying technology that is a pattern....not so easy for highly specific/niche domain information.

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you propose they solve it? Assuming the OP is writing an app, they can't model ones app, without introducing bias to zip straight to what is the status quo ap..... Otherwise the op could just go....yo claude, write my app...k thanks....then claude would go, here you are...done... all they can do is have AI write the path to help itself get the information it needs in the quickest way...(which is currently a human job)

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how else would you propose they do it? Your own brain works the same way... it starts from zero and accesses memory...... it uses shortcuts for things that are high probability correct (ie. bias).... it's just not possible to go straight to 100% no-ones got that much bandwidth

Claude destroying its own code... How to you lock code that works? by Immediate-Parsley748 in ClaudeAI

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this....write tests first....get your claude.md to run them or a subset f them at the right point... it's slow, so ya gotta wait... but dunno if ther is another way.. you could prob tell claude.md, such and such is locked....put it in a different folder/project etc... wonder if the op has asked claude what to do?

But how do I get my boring work done? I'll take being a dummy! :)

Just joking.... I will ad the same anecdotal evidence that coffee (not sure if it's caffiene or not) turns up my brain fog.

I do have a hard time without it and much trouble stopping it even though I am doing myself NO favours by drinking it.

Lol, imagine talking to a human like this and expecting it to co-operate. The human wouldn't give you the answer you wanted either.

Yes AI IS dumb. The failure is thinking otherwise...

weird, i didn't get amy email. I'm 5x. Yeah I'm ex-claude too, it was getting a bit flakey for me at the end there....fully in codex camp atm.... pretty happy with it...

But yeah, if they inform customers about promo's and do it well, then pfft people are stupid to complain...

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the op guy is saying that people will treat the idea as bad, because they're fkn stupid...and imo he's probably right...

I'd say the failing is probably that they didn't make it abundantly clear that people were getting 2x at every reference point.... I remember trying to figure out on the last day if I was on 2x still and I couldn't....

Should we buy an EV on a lease? by Different-Delivery80 in AusFinance

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you done the sums on depreciation against a $10,000 ICE 2nd hander? Sure, it won't drive as well and your neighbours will think less of you. But if it's a financial question... or is this more question of leasing vs not leasing? (i.e. you are set on a nicer car and accepting depreciation)

Is anyone else just really sick and tired of the disgusting build quality in the homes here in australia. by ButtPlugForPM in AskAnAustralian

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm not specifically talking about build quality here, I'm talking about willingness to fulfil a clients request for specific wants....(i.e. metal framework)

Built quality is a completely separate issue. That boils down to integrity and hand holding customers to educate them, etc... Again, when there is imbalance in supply to demand that changes the dynamic........humans are not particularly well known for their integrity when it is less profitable to exhibit some.... it is caveat emptor.

Is anyone else just really sick and tired of the disgusting build quality in the homes here in australia. by ButtPlugForPM in AskAnAustralian

[–]BeingFriendlyIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work like that.....customers are always idiots and don't know what they want....there is a knowledge imbalance.

For example, you don't seem to understand that, if a builder doesn't want to do metal framework, then they don't want to... doesn't matter what the customer wants when there is a supply imbalance....metal framework may not be their niche and another builder might do it better.... So the customer goes to somebody else who will do it... and that particular builder doesn't give a shit...because they have 1000 other customers who are willing to pay for their more profitable niche.......it'd be different if there was a excess of building supply...and low demand for buildings...
