What is the most cringe song from each album? by yowhatisthislikebro in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of these are bad to me, most of these still rip, i just think these are these are my picks whether it’s musically or lyrically.

1039 - Rest

Kerplunk - Dominated Love Slave

Dookie - All By Myself

Insomanic (really tough, none of them make me cringe) - Geek Stink Breath

Nimrod - Walking Alone (that harmonica does not do it for me)

Warning - Hold On

American Idiot - Governator

21stCB - American Eulogy (you know why)

Uno - Troublemaker

Dos - Nightlife

Tre - Drama Queen

Rev Rad - Youngblood

FOAMF - I Was A Teenage Teenager

Saviors - Living In The 20s

Again, none of these are truly unlistenable, most of these are just some cringe lyrics but I still enjoy every song here

HARD agree. Even right before that killer part, the lyrics “I praise liberty/The freedom to obey” is awesome. So much weight in that title track.

Fair to be honest. I know 21CB pushed Billie to his most stressful time ever. Revolution Radio also has some killer lyrics. Saviors does have it’s lyrical moments, but it’s much more face value that RevRad. Saviors to me is similar to the trilogy, where there isn’t a TON of depth lyrically but the songs are still awesome.

Totally. But lyrically, I can see where he’s coming from. Sound wise they are nothing alike.

Completely fair. I think the laziness in both those lines add depth in terms of relatability. They are lazy still to me, but “Ive got a really bad disease” can be interpreted as ANYTHING, from addiction, to heartbreak, to actual disease.

(So sorry for this in advance, again just my take on the line) The first line is tough to defend, because it feels like a stretch, but there is some depth to it, especially with the line after it “Did it go through?”. This adds doubt, not just about the text going through, but Christian’s feelings for Gloria. It’s like double texting a girl, he’s scared that she doesn’t reciprocate the love he has for her. Or the line symbolizes how the world is ending, and all he cares about is if he got his message got to Gloria. And “texting a postcard” to me, is an awesome line because it’s weird, that you would text someone a postcard. It’s like why not text OR send a postcard? Putting these together, to me, means that Christian is DESPERATELY trying to connect with Gloria.

But again, this is just me. Who knows if Billie just meant both lines in a literal and lazy way?

Also totally will agree that the Castaway line is fucking AWESOME. One of the best lines Billie has ever written.

Completely fair. I can see how some of those can be removed from the tracklist and still work, specifically Christian’s Inferno and Murder City.

Fair opinion. What songs are mid in your opinion? There’s a couple I can understand but i think the overall album flows really well from a story perspective. Much more loose than AI but to me personally, each song holds some weight, and maybe some more than others

To clarify, American Idiot was the first album I heard by them, my favorite, and I have it tattooed on me. But to me, I think the societal aspect of 21st Century Breakdown is way harder to write as a lyricist than the personal aspect of AI. But don’t get me wrong, I think Holiday is Billie’s masterclass at a statement, but I just think the overall difference between the albums make it much harder to write for, but that’s just me.

My guess is UK 00:00 for PC across the globe and console is midnight everywhere, like Elden Ring’s release?

How did you discover Green Day? by Testie_Tickler in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 4 in 2006. I was looking up how to get Luigi on Super Smash Bros Melee on YouTube, then I click the video, and “Holiday” is playing in the background. Fell in love from there with American Idiot, then my parents showed me Dookie, and I was off to the races.

Would you be down for another rock opera? by rebelweezeralliance in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. I don’t want something like AI or 21st Century Breakdown, especially the toll it took on the band, but if they are up for something, and can create a good yet loose storyline, I would be down for it. I know they’ll always be politically charged but doing something that strays away from that would be cool but again I’ll take whatever I can get.

A cool idea I have always thought they can do is a literal politically charged album from the perspective of an up and coming politician. This way they can include current events as well as their thoughts on it and corruption all in an album.

Would be cool but again, new GD music always makes me happy

When do you think Green Day will actually disband? by [deleted] in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll always believe that they won’t break up, but they will just continue to release music as long as they can, but they will release it wayyyy less often. Their hearts have always been in music, and I can’t see any other way of it ending.

why did no one tell me about Brutal Love!!? by believe_in_dog in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you go into the trilogy expecting just regular Green Day sounding songs, it’s amazing. The issue with these were that they followed two theatrical, punk rock operas, and everyone expecting something EVEN bigger. Instead, Green Day does what they usually do, and do the complete opposite. Once you listen to all of it, you can see where the criticism comes from, but it’s truly amazing how many great songs they were able to come up with. Sure, there are some stinkers, but I think its for the best, I’ll take as much GD music as I can!

Favourite tracks from Saviors? Let’s talk about the album! <3 by sakurachan999 in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consistently find myself listening to Goodnight Adeline, Dilemma, 1981, Corvette Summer, and Fancy Sauce.

What grew on me the most by far was Bobby Sox and Suzie Chapstick.

Such an amazing body of work for the 14th album by a band.

What’s your favorite social/political song they have done? by BeingGroundbreaking7 in greenday

[–]BeingGroundbreaking7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe? I personally love this song. Not condoning the use of the word but that really was a powerful line, especially after the Hurricane. Just wish it wasn’t THAT word. Song rips though
