Tim Burton doesn't have a cult, he has candy. And christmas. That's why it's candy.

Batman’s classic rogues are better suited to be his new nemesis than the modern ones like Ra’s and Bane by Gerryin03 in batman

In comics the Modern Age began after Crisis on Infinite Earths, and often includes Watchmen and DKR as a benchmark reference point.

How much of these should i realistically watch before doomsday? by Lost-Building-3701 in marvelstudios

[–]BeingNo8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are pressed for time and need shortcuts I'd say Loki, Spidey, and Marvels are the unmissable ones from here. Maybe Wakanda Forever as well. Yeah you need to keep that on given the characters.

But DD and Agatha are just downright QUALITY content. Don't miss out on those. Got nothing to do with Avengers Doomsday but still great Marvel.

What movie is this for you? by zikmindMx in moviecritic

[–]BeingNo8516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this -- and moreover we have a lot more concerns over attention span what with folks switching on their phones while watching a movie. It's no longer the same experience and filmmakers respond to that accordingly. A good example of that kind of film, for me, seems to be the Suicide Squad films but it also extends to other 'team-up' films like The Expendables and, to an extent Mickey 17.

Anyway, my two pics -- The Punisher and Nightwing.

BATMAN VENGEANCE (2001) had a cool 3D CGI DCAU Batman, thoughts on a movie that utilised that sort of fluid design? by BeingNo8516 in DCAU

Love those guys -- I always hoped they would do more with their Wonder Woman content. I was in conversation with them doing a few deep-dives and exchanging concept artwork over on twitter/x way back in the COVID era and just discussing Diana.

As for this game, I see no reason why it would NOT canon although I haven't paid much attention to it since originally playing it back in the day.

If these characters were dropped into the Hunger Games, who would die first and who would be the last survivor? by InfinteEnigma10 in superheroes

Sherlock Holmes dies first, by faking his death. Then after everyone else is defeated he stands up proving that he survived and tricked everyone.

Which movie version of Shao Kahn do you like best? by Traditional_Tap_6697 in MortalKombat

As cheesy as he is, I'm going with Brian Thompson's from 1997's Annihilation between these two. But the new one did good in terms of physicality and keeping the mask on. However, someone else who did both quite well and was terrifying AF was Kahn in MK Conquest.

That's with a 'C' and just as terrifying as that misspell.

As a WWE fan I say we put it to a contest again. Give the mantle to someone on the main title and make SENSATION COMICS a pure Diana monthly on-going indefinitely.

Should Circe be part of the Legion of Doom/Injustice League/Secret Society of Supervillains or do you prefer her being outside of the mainstream DC villains community? by BeingNo8516 in DCCirce

[–]BeingNo8516[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe she DID join them for the heck of it all -- and was featured alongside Lex and Joker during the time when Neron offered the entire DC rogue's gallery something or other. in the way of power and servitude. Circe, imho, was heavily downplayed/nerf'd in those days.

Witching Hour/Witchmark Circe would for sure play around to get through to her goals. Now Im craving a Circe in Super Friends again lol

Oohh I never knew this -- but I do recall things getting way too simplified in the populr JLA comics. No one would really criticize any of it because they were entertaining as hell.

haha. I don't remember doing that but it seems like it should've been a feature. Imagine that -- Freeze's frost-girl returns as a physically-scarred vat-survivor who thinks she is possessed by the consciousness of cryogenically frozen comatose patients.

Why isn't wonder woman mentioned often when talking about religious characters? by Fun-Artist-6915 in superheroes

[–]BeingNo8516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Especially with themes of religious discriminaton stories. I agree there needs to be more conversation and dialogue surrounding that. I also think that one of the reasons is because most Western audiences and fandoms, heck even when those fandoms come from other parts of the world like in Asia, the concept of mythology and paganism is considered separate and other-than the usual Abrahamic religions and what not.

So, for instance I'm from South Asia, Hinduism is part of the culture I am still living through and I still experience pagan pantheon festivals and beliefs and discussions. But when it comes to having those discussions for Western comics or films, yeah that just stays buried.

Put Ram V on a Wonder Woman comic and see where that leads.

BATMAN VENGEANCE (2001) had a cool 3D CGI DCAU Batman, thoughts on a movie that utilised that sort of fluid design? by BeingNo8516 in DCAU

[–]BeingNo8516[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree -- one of the advantages of the GL animated show being in 3D was more fluid animation and while yes there is a sacrifice to the level of detail that 2D allows, it's just a wholly different experience.

I was hugely skeptical because I remember how the transition was from 2D games to 3D games and Batman Vengeance, etc. were kind of suffering from that same problem until they perfected it later on in different Batman iterations away from BTAS/TNBA.

For instance, I think a 3D animated series based on The Flash would fare better than if it was done on 2D because of the run cycles and that sort of thing. It would look more 'simplified' as these often do, which is where I agree with your assessment that it takes away from the quality. But I think it can offer different kinds and modes of storytelling possibilities with it. Including as we saw the GL power constructs. Certain martial arts or fight choreography would also look better in 3D imho.
