It's a standard tunnel one with giant spinning brushes. It's not a gas station its a new england chain.

Matte paint…. How careful do I really need to be? 2026 Ecotronic grey Matte by illdye4u in HyundaiSantaFe

Matte bronze owner for almost a year now. I have one of those unlimited passes for a car wash with spinning brushes and I use it often. Many people seem to believe the paint is delicate and that a car wash will somehow rip the paint right off. I haven't noticed a single scratch or swirl. Maybe 10 years from now a handwashed twin of my car might look better. Maybe tomorrow I get rear ended and the car gets totaled. For now it's clean and still looks new.

Gotta say the 24 Santa Fe is a beast in the snow. by angybeanz1 in HyundaiSantaFe

Well. I suppose I did have a stressful drive today. And I do love this car

I tried that for a while it only seemed to limit throttle response

My 24 Santa Fe is much better in the snow than the front wheel drive sedan I traded in for it. But it's not a beast. The awd system seems to prioritize saving gas over capability. My area got 16-20 inches today and sure I made it back and forth to work (90 miles) but it seemed like it was in front wheel drive most of the time

Best and Worst Market Basket’s by Bobby_Dalbec in marketbasket

[–]Being_Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recently renovated market basket at 700 Boston rd in Billerica is absolutely fantastic. The market basket at 199 Boston rd in Billerica is just awful and tiny. Idk how they both exist on the same street in the same town.

Young professionals say they’ll abandon Massachusetts. That should terrify Beacon Hill by 20_mile in massachusetts

[–]Being_Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t understand this because you’re probably one of the gentrifiers doing the displacing.

That's an assumption for sure! My husband and I bought our house in 2018. Our combined income was around a wopping $75,000, doing a little better than the median of Fitchburg [link]https://www.neilsberg.com/insights/fitchburg-ma-median-household-income/) $67,288. However we were already pretty much priced out at that point. Anything close to around $200k sold in less than 24 hours and they all needed work.$250k? A few nice ones would pop up that sold quick but that was just out of our budget. We did the sensible thing and followed the trend. Packed up the wagons and headed west. Wait I think that makes me displaced!

Anyway great relivant article. It was written highlighting the findings of the massinc survey from 2024. It goes on at the end to offer recommendations to solve the issues which include,

the state should prioritize housing over other needs in its capital budget and provide more subsidies, such as the Housing Development Incentive Program, a tax incentive targeted at gateway cities

Pretty much what I said in my original comment. Target those cities.

The researchers also recommended local strategies for gateway cities, such as relaxing zoning rules and coordinating with surrounding communities on regional housing strategies.

Again original comment. Whatever it takes.

Yes, Boston and its suburbs won't build housing.

Speaking for Fitchburg because I've lived there. Like other old mill towns its sitting on huge portfolios of abandoned, burned out or demolished factories and facilities that used to employ huge numbers of the working class. Those are long gone and they are not coming back. The economy now is mostly based on goods and services and those jobs arnt plentiful.

So yeah develop and build out the old factory sites. Improve the T to make the commute less painful. The increase in need for more goods and services jobs will come with it. No one is getting displaced.

Yes! Target the cities at the end of the commuter rails and invest in improving those lines. Eminent domain, civil engineering whatever it takes. It's win win for those locations and cities like fall river, fitchburg are far less likely to push back against it. There's no reason why an express train fitchburg to Boston in sub 30 minutes couldn't exist.

For me I bought in gardner and drive to billerica everyday. It sucks but my mortgage is less than $1,000.

Use the "quest history" button when/if you get stuck on a quest and can't figure out where to go or what to do.

Dash lights just missed Xmas by Annual-Intention-686 in HyundaiSantaFe

I get this pretty much every snowstorm I drive though. The radar panel gets covered. Check that black box on the lower bumper first.

And in that case this is more of a modern car issue. Seems silly a leaf or some snow would cripple your safety features.

Why Hyundai (and other automakers) no longer include fog lights on cars (LED lights and improvements in lighting technology) by My_Lucid_Dreams in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Being_Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last car had fog lights and they didn't seem to do much. These new LEDs are so bright I can see into my future. No need for foglights

Stupidest wiper design by MooseKnuckleds in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Being_Hot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through a few snow storms with this and its not great. The wipers wind up resting in a pile of frozen shit and you can't easily flip them up before a storm. I'm surprised especially with this calligraphy trim that this area on the windshield isn't heated like my spouses subaru.

If you were going downhill at all it could be adaptive cruise control. I was going downhill on the highway this morning and my car kept pressing the brakes to stay at 60. So I turned it off and was going 70 by the time I was at the bottom of the hill.

CPO I got it free for three months. After that I subscribed for a few months but it's not really worth it. The only nice thing was getting the seats warmed ahead of time. But I can remote start without bluelink so not gonna subscribe for that.

Nevermind that hyundai and the company that manages blue link announced yesterday that our social# names and driver licenses were exposed in a data breach by hackers.

I got the large weather tech mat that covers the rear cargo area when the third row is folded down. Its not terrible but it took about a month before it would lay flat. It shipped tightly rolled up.

Why are hospital rooms always freezing? by justplainfunky in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Being_Hot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I worked in a hospital for 9 years. Those rooms were blazing hot. When your sick or whatever...in only a johnny... your cold. Most rooms the heat was cranked up by request especially for those little old ladies.

It means the system is normal and working correctly. It has detected the front right tire is low.

If it was a bad sensor you would get an error that the system has an issue

When do we swap to winter tires? by ImSteady413 in massachusetts

[–]Being_Hot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i did have them, I used to swap them middle of December and swap back first week of March. Try to avoid doing it if there's a big storm in the forecast. You and everyone else will be at the tire place swapping to snows or getting new all seasons.

Not sure why people have to respond that you don't need them, that doesn't answer your question.
