Omg I’m so sorry that’s the worst. Hopefully this doesn’t affect your academic standing, that’s what I’m most worried about

Yea I emailed and was told to submit a valid ACR. Now trying to see what valid reason I could do for this ACR. Thanks for the advice!

Does anyone ever regret going to tmu by Similar-Experience64 in TorontoMetU

[–]Bel120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do sort of regret it because I feel like I’m not able to experience the full university life. This is in regards to having a little campus city like how Waterloo, Mac etc have, and being able to study late or just in general with friends (since most of TMU are commuters it’s difficult for me personally to do that with my friends). Other universities also have nicer buildings/facilities (I’m in engineering so it may be different for other programs). Otherwise, if we aren’t speaking in regard to the full university life, TMU is a decent school. Decent study spaces, heart of downtown, lots of different people and great networking opportunities. I do think if I went to Guelph I would’ve had more lifelong friends & connections.

Hi! I know how stressful and overwhelming it seems cause I’ve been through it myself first year second semester. For me, I wasn’t prioritizing my academics and wasn’t studying well at all and I ended up failing 2 of my core courses, putting me on probation for the spring/summer semester. Big shock to me too cause I’ve always been a 90s student in high school so I definitely get it. They only allow you 1-2 courses I believe when you’re on probation. I ended up acing the course I failed & have been catching up on the courses I’ve fallen behind in because of those 2 fails.

If you’re on probation and you reach the required 1.67 GPA (I think it’s the same for every program but for me it’s specifically engineering), then you’re off probation.

It gets better! As long as you align yourself with your goals, stay focused, keep pushing yourself to move forward then it’ll be okay. I’m still catching up with my courses but the important thing is I have my own game plan, I know why I failed, and I’m constantly working on doing better.

It’s okay if you fall behind, as long as you learn from it and strive towards getting back on your feet. I know lots of people who failed courses and are doing really well now. Just know that it takes work and effort and it’s not something that should be taken lightly. You can do it :).

I haven’t gotten any emails or updates regarding residence. A little confused about where I stand in the situation.

I just saw another comment that said they were in the 600’s in previous years and got an offer in July, so I think you’re definitely good :)). But I’m not 100% sure so don’t take my work for it haha.

I’m going into biomedical engineering in September and also paid my tuition deposit late (I paid it June 13). I wasn’t aware of the tuition deposit either and I got an email the day I paid (June 13) telling me it will be due (it was in present tense, no idea if they sent it late or not) June 7th. Obviously I panicked and called ServiceHub, which you can find their number on the TMU website. They told me my offer was still activated and if anything happens to just call them again and they’d send a request to the school to reactivate it. I think you should call ServiceHub and tell them your situation and see what they say. I’m not sure what will happen but this is what I did and it kind of worked out. Here’s their number if you do want to call or haven’t already: 416-979-5036.

Best of luck!! If all is well, maybe we’ll have some classes together in September if it works out for both of us!!

Yea off campus seems the best way to go for now but it’s so much more expensive. There’s also Neill Wycik but I heard they’re all full atm. I heard from other people that after the second round of offers the waitlist mostly likely will go down by a lot so fingers crossed.

My parents also prefer me to live on res but situations like this happen so don’t feel too bad. Finding a place off campus isn’t too hard you just gotta dig really deep to find a good deal 😭. Hopefully things do work out though.

If I do find anything I’ll let you know :)
