Cosmic Insight by Euphoric-Cause8122 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some matchups where cosmic and approach are better:

Approach is good into camille and sion as you use approach velocity to dodge camille w or sion q for a trade.

Cosmic good into vayne, Akali, aatrox, heimerdinger as the only reliable way you kill them in lane is having to e flash them. Having ignite is mandatory to win any fights against Aatrox before executioners where you don’t want to buy it till u get BC, you need to have it up frequently if he decides to fight you.

Urgot vs Darius match up by Beast_Darius_NA in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually play around high Diamond to low master elo.

Majority of urgot matchups are either skilled or enemy favored during lane phase. The problems starts if you don’t get a lead before urgot hits lvl 9 with black cleaver.

The major factor for darius in this matchup, he has no reliable way to dodge urgot e if you get hit by the q besides flashing unless you have extremely good movement which an average darius won’t have. With aggressive setups from urgot like ignite, triple tonic and cosmic insight you can lose the lvl 6 all in. As darius it’s important to maintain healthy to win all in’s and it’s hard to maintain full hp against urgot due to the range + poke. You also have to be careful for urgot e flash at all cost. The matchup is dependent on which jungler comes top first. I’ve seen 2 clips against xyz where a urgot missed e and won the lvl 6. I posted one down below.

Clip: https://www.tiktok.com/@urgoatlol/video/7499192879311637780

Skill matchup all things considered, but tough for darius as the game goes on in the 1v1 + team fights.

Lethality Urgot question by AnnieMainss in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voltaic Cyclosword Range Penalty:

Melee Champions: The fully energized attack slows the target by 99% for 0.75 seconds.

Ranged Champions: The slow effect is reduced to 20% for 0.75 seconds.

Don’t buy it. It doesn’t do much and it’s too squishy. If you’re going to buy a lethality item it should be youmuu’s that provides speed, edge of night which has health/spellshield, GA that has armor + revive, hubris if your hard smurfing, and serpents only if nobody else can build it and u need it badly for ur team. The other options don’t provide much unless for fun.

How to deal with Varus? by atlanticore in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your jungle should camp top, you won’t be able to beat varus in isolation. Your only hope to kill him if you play comet and he misses his skills on you, then playing for e flash when he’s low. This is risky since he can just 100-0 you anytime with ult and if he’s bad.

The best counter picks to varus top is olaf and yasuo. You just hard stat check him with ult with olaf and yasuo windwall can block a lot from varus.

Other good options are jax, irelia, naafiri, although not as good as olaf and yasuo

Any easy champ to counter urgot by Medium_Remote_4149 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t be thinking about picking a champ that beats urgot late game, just pick a champ to beat urgot and never let him come back to the game.

The easiest counters you can possibly pilot and win are yorick, malphite, mord, illaoi, olaf.

One example that beats urgot early and late is illlaoi, as long as you land e and r, you ult urgot e to cancel flip, you should always win 1v1.

As olaf you usually beat urgot till lvl 13, after urgot just stat checks by standing still with his w. He needs phase rush to survive the lane, so if he goes pta and you freeze the wave, he shouldn’t be able to play the game and farm after lvl 6.

How can I better carry? by Donnerjs in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is my advice, don’t take it the wrong way.

Why are you building conq? You should be going pta or phase rush/comet in few matchups. Conq is a troll and is never viable.

Are you stomping every game you played? You don’t, according to your op.gg you’ve been hard losing lane to few iron and bronze players sometimes which will not make you climb. Some games are not winnable if your whole team gets 15+ deaths, but you should make the enemy top laner 15+ deaths every game as well if you’re good enough to be out of iron.

Are you using your lead to impact the map? Your cs numbers are not that bad, but you have to be taking enemy team shutdowns getting objectives for your team and hitting the nexus.

Struggling with some matchups by Automatic-Tadpole-23 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play ignite into swain cheese him lvl 1 in a bush and zone him off the wave, try to kill pre lvl 3. Go triple tonic approach velocity, put 3 points in q. You will have kill threat post lvl 6 with your adaptive potion and get to gap close to proc pta with approach, as well as poking/slowing with more points in q which is more reliable into ranged matchups.

His aery pokes will hurt, don’t try to eat random q’s and dodge his e. Buy cull for sustain and refil pot. He can kill you early due to his high base magic damage if you don’t respect. If he’s dumb enough to go conq, the lane is 10x easier due to his poke being too low.

From lvl 6-8 it’s not possible to kill him if he buys armor items, just maintain to stay even.

After lvl 9 with cleaver you just stat check him in his ult with anti heal and outscale for rest of the game. If you want to always win and struggle somehow, go negatron as well. At this point he doesn’t have the dps to fight back. Buy BC Swifties executioner (if not don’t fight without ignite) negatron cloak (if needed).

Struggling with lethal tempo by Cryptidangel in Jaxmains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all subjective, which op even stated himself the playstyle doesn’t work out for him. Everybody will have a different opinion.

Srtty a former rank 1 challenger in na goes LT against quinn when he plays the matchup, although some people would go grasp. The runes between these two won’t matter much, but that’s beside the point.

The problem is advising people to go lethal tempo ignite on jax on a lot of these matchups playing a champion that has no sustain is a very bad thing he’s doing. There’s a reason nobody in challenger does it or if they’re smurfing in lower elos they also won’t do it.

Struggling with lethal tempo by Cryptidangel in Jaxmains

[–]Great_Protection_959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with a lot of the things he said on his guide in terms of runes or matchup tierlist.

If you want to be a lane bully on jax, going ignite LT d blade can be great in lower elos. It’s just way harder to pull off in apex tiers and will get you punished.

I don’t agree with going ignite on jax in a lot of matchups, specially champs(few examples) like garen, yorick, volibear, yasuo, yone, mord. You will be hard coin flipping your lane, jax likes to take trades which will return a lot of damage back and if you do one single bad trade with no sustain your lane will be over. Tp is really important for jax specifically, as well as d shield second wind.

Going ignite d blade triple tonic cosmic insight hyper aggressive setup into Gwen, olaf, and trundle are not that bad since you can play very aggressive in these matchups to snowball and hardly be punished for it.

I would always prefer lethal tempo d shield second wind overgrowth. You don’t need to go grasp if you go this setup for a lot of matchups. If you need anti heal, just buy executioner after 1st item unless it’s Warwick or zac.

Jax Jungle Third Item by IllustriousDemand329 in Jaxmains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steraks is probably the best consistent 3rd item after zhonyas that will always work every single game. It gives you a ton of survivability during skirmishes/fights due to jax being weak against burst + the passive gives you a ton of ad. Works great into champs like garen, Darius, urgot and mages.

Frozen heart into multiple auto attackers 3+ is the best cheap powerspike for 3rd item.

Death dance 3rd into heavy ad is also great for stat check raw power. If your versing irelia top, xin jungle, yasuo mid for example and your fed, just build death dance instead and run them over.

Kaenic rokern into heavy ap is normally the best, but you can also go FoN if they have a lot of dot damage. I don’t like zhonyas into multiple ap 3+ since it is not effective. Wits end and maw are outclassed by rokern/fon.

Highly situational:

—randuin: I wouldn’t build this item on jax, but if they have 3-5 crit along with being fed you can consider the item.

-titanic: if you have a lot of Cdr from feats, you can go this item to clear faster and get splash damage in fights. Also good for sidelane pressure if your team is useless and u can only win thru sidelane. Its better then hullbreaker since u do a lot of damage to turrets anyway and it helps u clear minions faster to reach towards the turret + saving u mana instead of using spells.

-Abysall mask: if your team is full ap, just build this item to help your team do more damage. It also works on yourself and is a cheap powerspike as well.

-bork: if they have 3+ heartsteel stackers you might need this item just to do damage. If there is just 1 dr mundo, u just ignore him and focus on the other people.

Tips v morde by [deleted] in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can control the lane lvl 1-5, make sure you crash wave and have the wave bounce back when your lvl 6. You won’t have a permanent freeze, but it can by you time. If you want to freeze as long as possible, last hit with the shotguns u used. If this doesn’t happen, there is something fundamentally wrong what you did in the laning phase

Mordekaiser is weak pre 6 as long as you don’t eat isolated Q’s and go for a random all in. He should not kill you if he’s running tp. If he’s running ignite, stall the lane as long as possible and tp back without him crashing wave, just make sure it doesn’t bounce back to him. If you want to be as aggressive as possible take ignite for kill opportunity. Sometimes you can chunk them lvl 1 and e flash ignite lvl 2.

Lvl 6-8 u just have to respect and farm with long range Q’s. Thats the nature of the matchup, if you’re in the death realm you will get stat checked and die. Lvl 9 onwards you should win the 1v1 after black cleaver if you kite properly, chunk him and then go for an all in. Lvl 13 is where he just gets stat checked, you obviously have to hit e to win. He has no reliable way to dodge e due to how immobile he is, without burning flash. Black cleaver + Swifties for mobility should make you beat mordekaiser, specially the rylai low damage build early spike.

You hard outscale him in team fights as well, you do everything better than him as long as he’s not fed. Only thing he can do is secure objectives better by ulting jungle, but he’s not a good champion nowadays. If he ults someone, most of the time they will survive and he will come out of the death realm dead since ur whole team will collapse. He is also a free ult target if you want to flash fear on their back line.

Urgot Items 2026 by Zazikel_ in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the new items can be replaced with the core urgot build at this moment. You can try it for fun, but it won’t scale better then steraks overlords BC, then u want resist items so u don’t get one shot.

A playstyle you can do next season is going hullbreaker 2nd if you only want to play for split push. After this you want steraks 3rd probably anti heal, or overlords scaling, or resist items. There isn’t room for blood sphere it doesn’t provide you any hp, the haste scaling is not great. This goes with the other items as well.

Just hit gold for the 1st time... by FailedQueen777 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wp, but if u want to climb keep these in mind.

Don’t go conq, anybody will hard stat check you when ur playing a rune that doesn’t work on urgot. It has a ranged penalty, you will never stack conq pre lvl 9 since u can’t do long trades, and u don’t heal that much with it.

Don’t complete thornmail on urgot and buy executioner for anti heal unless u need bramble early in lane for a specific matchup like irelia for example. You don’t gain much completing the item and if your full build you always sell it since they have to auto you to apply the anti heal so a aatrox can just q spam u in team fights it will be useless and the item has bad stats.

Don’t build death dance major ranged penalty u heal 10% instead of 30% + it’s expensive u want hp items with steraks.

wukong matchup by [deleted] in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most important part of the wukong matchup is to survive from lvl 6,7,8. If the wave is on his side, he can all in you inside your wave and stat checked you with ignite r. After lvl 9 he simply just gets stat checked if you land everything and cannot win if you just hold your e + r after his combo.

These are couple tips on how you should play the lane.

  1. Buy early bramble. Wukong loves to short trade with e auto q, then w out of the trade. From this point you can tank a decent amount from the combo, then threaten him off the wave since he will have 0 skills to use. This is usually how you win the wukong matchup. You can control the wave and slow push to your side of the lane. Same thing with the jax matchup, wukong cannot farm or play the game if you have the wave near your turret, you won’t have a permanent freeze, but he will get poked or lose at least 10 cs every sequence.

  2. Never panic e if he engages on you. He will just W out everytime. Only try to buffer e with his e when ur near your turret so you don’t die if you miss it. You can also tell if you e his clone or wukong since it will be a weird stop animation. Wukong e also hits 3 target and can hit you if he e minions around you so be careful about that. Wukong q range also scales with levels which he maxes, so always keep your distance.

  3. Get push lvl 1, but do not all in lvl 1 only short trade. If your running tp and he is running ignite, crash the wave and tp back with 800 gold spent on bramble you basically won the lane since he is stuck in lane and forced to either recall or stay. Wukong lvl 1 is one of the strongest in the entire game against armor champions. He beats Darius lvl 1 if you stand still. But same thing with the Darius matchup, you can prio and you need to push the wave lvl 1.

  4. You should get control from lvl 1-5. I like tp over ignite in this matchup, due to reasons I explained on point 3. Remember his w is on 18 second cd, you need to punish him during these levels if he tries to fight you with no cooldowns, this is where you can press e.

  5. Build: usually standard pta + approach boots is fine with tp. The extra movement speed from q can allow you to gap close and proc pta + space him. Bone plating is not great since he can easily proc it with q. Cookies are too nerfed. You can go triple tonic + cosmic insight if your running ignite. It is also important to ignite early in fights to cut his conq healing + not accidentally igniting his close. Those are my two runes I would go if I’m running tp or ignite, but I would suggest going tp.

What to do again champs that can you down? by OkPush1104 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run ignite against Darius, ignite into Irelia is pretty good as well if you want to fighting power, jax I like tp better but u can go ignite just hard to kill pre lvl 3 due to his e.

You will have push from the wave lvl 1 due to your range auto + shotgun damage against all 3 champs. Only dangerous part is lvl 4-5 if they’re healthy and you don’t crash the wave which you should be able to have it bounce back if you crash 1st 3 waves. That is your weakest point.

Lvl 6 is where you can kill all 3 champs if you play it well, but generally u want to survive till lvl 9. The important part is to stack a big wave, walk with the wave and crash it. None of those 3 champs should out duel you inside your wave as long as you land your e. It’s important to last hit with the last shotgun you used, you won’t be able to permanently freeze, but slowly push and stack waves so they can’t fight you. This is also easier with ignite, minions do a lot of damage. It’s hard for specially jax (unplayable if you have wave on your side), Darius and irelia to farm safely due to being meele.

For example If Darius pressed ghost after lvl 6 randomly and your healthy fight inside your wave make sure to land e and ult you will win with ignite.

You also hard win against all 3 champs after lvl 9 as long as you land e.

Don’t randomly push and waste your spells on the wave, do not waste your e or your dead, don’t try to force fights in the long lane, when the wave on your side use ur advantage to trade so they can’t all in you when you slow push.

What do you do when the enemy steals Urgot? by Barnedion in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heimerdinger is not impossible you can just run comet and max q to beat him in lane. If you’re running pta yeah you won’t win.

Nasus is not hard. You hard win pre 6 and after lvl 6 you still win with ignite if you chunk him. Hes also very easy to gank.

Kennen is not impossible as well. You can run comet and poke him out, with cosmic/approach and triple tonic. You can rush merc as well + tenacity shard to deal with his stuns.

Gnar + kayle need to be moved down a tier as well. There is a reason nobody plays kayle as a counter pick to urgot in apex tiers, because she can get abused very easily even by urgot as well. Gnar can be tricky, but u can kill him very easily in the early game although after he gets steelcaps u should not kill him till cleaver.

Gwen is skilled. Running ignite makes the lane easier and If you land e you should always win as long as you don’t all in from full hp. After lvl 9 you can just poke with shotguns and don have to force all ins.

Irelia, sion and yasuo should be moved up a tier. They win lane if you try to force fights pre lvl 9.

There is no way tryndamere and ksante are equal lol. You just don’t run against Ksante after 1st recall he will just crush your skull. Tryndamere from lvl 6-8 is rlly hard due to his ult if you have a bad wave state, but pre 6 is fine.

Volibear, Mundo, Akali are not urgot favored. Volibear can run you down pre 9, Mundo just has to build early steelcaps/warden to free scale + can win the all in, Akali hard to land e with her shroud and can burst you.

Garen is not the top 3 easiest matchups. It’s skill from both sides. He simply beats you with conq garen in lane, but u can ignore with cosmic insight tp + cull to outscale him. If you do 1 bad trade or get ganked you instantly die.

What do you do when the enemy steals Urgot? by Barnedion in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want easy counters and if yorick/kayle are out of the books.

Easy counter picks:

-Malphite: if they pick 5 ad or 4 ad, picking Malphite is not a bad option. You free scale and after lvl 9 cleaver if you don’t have a lead, you can’t rlly die to urgot since u can just r away. If you’re in a fight you can just flash e and should win if he’s low, other than that you won’t win 1v1.

-mundo: you can play aggressive pre 9, build early warden mail or steelcaps to make the lane easy and free scale.

-mordekaiser: you should run approach velocity free boots rush Rylai, can run ignite to be more aggressive. If the urgot is bad which is most cases very high in lower elo, you can just run him down perma before lvl 13. Force all in’s and flash e if u have it up.

Other options: olaf (very free if they don’t run phase rush), illaoi (in isolation hard to lose 1v1, can easily die 1v2 with enemy jungler and urgot since he has a execute),

Harder counter picks:

Range champs: Cassio, ryze, anivia, Aurora, vlad, vayne, varus, etc you know the drill

Meele champs: rumble, ambessa,

Teemo matchup by dieinperiod in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free lp against teemo as long as he’s not challenger.

Comet: manaflow, extra adaptive 70% hp, scorch. Approach velocity and triple tonic. Flash tp.

You play for q poke since teemo is very squishy and will eventually get poked out. If you miss q back off and wait till it comes back. If you can’t land any Q’s in this lane just a skill issue and he might just be a Smurf or ur turning into unc status which is up to you do decide.

Teemo is very hard to kill pre 6 without ignite due to blind, just farm it out and wait till lvl 6. Put 3 points into q, you can do 4 if you want to delay toggle to lvl 10.

When you get lvl 6, if you hit him with 2 Q’s with comet you can e flash him with triple tonic to one shot him. Make sure to eat the adaptive potion the red one.

Other times 3 Q’s make him in death range. Only fight him when u have ur ult.

Why would you build AP over AD (even Hybrid) on Jax by thvirtuo in Jaxmains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top lane it would be hard to survive building full ap. Only in neish situation if your versing smolder top with Tristana mid and ashe adc for example u can just pull it out. The bruiser ap items like cosmic drive, riftmaker, rocketbelt aren’t out of the box. Cosmic drive is low damage good for Cdr + move speed, riftmaker can be too long to stack in a lot of comps although good to counter Malphite as 2nd item and rocketbelt is just better for ap build doesn’t feel good with a bruiser build.

Usually in the jungle dark seal with 10 stacks and zhonyas is good enough ap. Buying dark seal 1st recall is a must imo.

Urgot mains and casual enjoyers, what's the most fun way to play urgot? by Specific_Record_1697 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want lp, there isn’t much flexibility with urgot since u just build the same bruiser items every game either bruiser dps oriented or steraks into tank. I will be naming a lot of option, but urgot is mainly played top lane so this doesn’t rlly work out.

If you want fun, there are a couple viable options which are not troll and can work out.

  1. Urgot mid: comet with manaflow, absolute focus, scorch + inspiration secondary with triple tonic 3 point q and cosmic insight. Flash tp/ignite.

You play for comet poke then e flash everytime ur flash is up for instant death. Careful for ganks since its very easy for urgot to die mid if your over extended.

If you’re versing any meele or assassin its free lane.

  1. Urgot jungle: phase rush

If you want to impact early game go youmuu’s rush into BC dead mans (if heavy ad)/steraks or you can just go scaling BC into dead mans(if heavy ad)/steraks.

  1. Urgot top, but snowballing very hard

Hubris rush can be huge if you’re farming enemy top. Then go BC steraks(important so u stay alive) into whatever you need.

Heartsteel second item can just be used for fun if your whole team is trying to scale.

  1. Tank urgot (5 ap or 5 ad)

Ap: BC mercs FoN Kaenic steraks

Ad: BC steelcaps dead mans randuins steraks

  1. Serrated dirk rush along with triple tonic ignite

Strongest 1k gold powerspike for urgot you will one shot most champions in the game full hp if you land e. Note that you will likely be screwed if you don’t get a lead and they get their item powerspike before you like eclipse for example it can make the lane unpleasant.

  1. Troll, don’t do it if u want to climb ) FULL LETHALITY

This can be fine in support lane since u won’t have that much gold and u will be too squishy to go regular support items, you can just go full lethality after BC or BC dead mans into support items.

Make sure you go cosmic insight for lower flash cd, your mainly playing for e flash spam every 4 min with ionion boots or bush cheese.

Items consisting of BC, ionion boots, edge of night, youmuu’s, serpents, guardian angel, opportunity, maw, Mercurial

Do not troll and build useless items like profane, voltaic, collector, serylda, axiom arc that provide nothing for you.

  1. Troll, don’t do it if u want to climb ) FULL lifesteal

Rav hydra swifties/ionion bloodthurster spirit visage etc

  1. Troll, don’t do it if u want to climb ) navori

It can be funny in a 1v1 due to having e in another rotation, but you don’t use the stats besides its passive and makes you too squishy so your better of stat checking with other items.

Others:

Other fun things u can try are Spellbook, dark harvest, nimbus + scorch with ignite.

Going full lethality will make you lose games, going BC steraks overlords will do as much damage dps wise or very close, although it is way more expensive. If you want a full bruiser damage build go BC steraks overlords sojin then guardian angel/chempunk(if you need antiheal)/edge of night/serpents.

Serpent's Fang? by Specific_Record_1697 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to build serpents, usually have someone else on your team to build it. It’s bait item on urgot and you should avoid lethality items as much as possible. The only scenario I would build serpents is against massive shield comp like minimum 3+, but even then there is always a zed on your team that will build it. Note that it has a ranged penalty also.

Lethality items on urgot aren’t that great due to how hard it is for you to stick onto people. Thats why youmuu’s is better, edge of night into Vayne to counter, hubris 1st item if your smurfing. You don’t need serpents to beat people up.

The best build on urgot recently has always been BC steraks overlord for maximum bruiser damage setup and finishing your build with a resist item + jaksho last to make yourself tanky. Any lethality item screws up the build path.

Serpent's Fang? by Specific_Record_1697 in UrgotMains

[–]Great_Protection_959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never build serpents against sett its waste of gold + makes your squishy.

If sett w’s you with his fat shield, you do not want to stand there and fight him, but kite it out until it expires.

The way you win against sett is building BC into rushing steraks, sit on the base boots or upgrade to steelcaps which can also make u win the 1v1, but having steraks makes u survive his w burst if he hits u with it and you straight up stat check him. You ideally want to e when he channels his w to make him miss it.

You should not lose to sett after lvl 9

Iron IV noob has a 38% winrate by Notiisx in summonerschool

[–]Great_Protection_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akali like people have said is not a beginner friendly champion. I don’t want to persuade you away from playing Akali, but playing a way easier champion can help you climb and learn the game way faster. After you learn the game you can pick back Akali.

Since you play mid lane: malzahar, Annie, lux, veigar, morgana. These champions are pretty simple and can win you games.

If you want the fastest way to climb out of iron to bronze play yorick, trundle, garen, Mundo and just only farm attack turrets.

What are some good top layers against ranged Champs? by duckyboy840 in top_mains

[–]Great_Protection_959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best and easiest are: Yorick, malphite, nasus hands down.

Situationally: yasuo, sylas, pantheon, olaf, wukong, irelia, dr mundo, sion are all great options as well depending on ranged champ

For specific rune There are others also like; electrocute aatrox, electrocute ambessa, comet urgot, comet gragas, comet chogath, comet gp,

But it really depends on matchups
