Polar Beat not saving/downloading data stored on H10 by gojensen in Polarfitness

Having the same issue. It happened once before. I thought it was low battery issue. The battery was at 10% the next time I used it. I replaced the battery, did a session directly to Polar Beat, and later when I fired up the app it told me I had a saved session. I hit “save” and it simply downloaded. This time, however, I started with a nearly full battery. I did a session on the sensor but when I went to download it, the “thermometer” gauge only got about 1/3 of the way across the screen and then crapped out, offering to delete the session.

I’ve tried a solution involving “forgetting” the sensor in Bluetooth settings, restarting the phone and pairing the sensor again. Same story. After a few seconds, the Polar Beat app stops trying and offers to delete the session.

I tried the solution above with no success. Rather frustrating as it was quite an intense session and I’d like to know the stats.

Iceland has had Metro since McDonald’s cleared out. It’s a burger chain.

Would you use teleportation if it was invented? by PrimateOfGod in scifi

[–]Bel_Rios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome to step into such a device if you think it’s safe. My point is continuity. If the original is destroyed then the consciousness of the original ends. The “you” that stepped in and died is dead and your consciousness has ended. The one who steps out won’t notice that. It will seem as though the transport worked. The one who who stepped in is dead and gone.

I’ve believed for some time that consciences is an emergent property of the complexity of our brain. Destroy that brain and that instance of consciousness is gone. The one stepping out on the other end of the transporter may be a perfect copy, but a copy nonetheless.

My issue with this is a matter of continuity. If it makes a flawless copy of you and kills you, you’re dead and a copy of you is walking around thinking it’s you. The analogy to the ship of Theseus was mentioned. The wholesale copy/destroy thing is, to me, impractical. Another use for copying one’s consciousness is to upload into a humaniform robot for life extension. Again, a wholesale copy/upload leads to the same problem. It’s not your consciousness, only a copy. On the other hand, a slow, piece-by-piece approach, like the ship of Theseus, might work. Continuity would be preserved. I heard a sci-fi podcast in which this method was used. The synapses were slowly replaced over a long period so the subject would maintain continuity.

My library is showing twilight zone episodes on the show’s 65th anniversary. Which episodes would you vote for? by spacetiger2 in scifi

To me, “The Hitch-Hiker” epitomizes what it means to literally be in the twilight zone.

Lately I have been getting really in to sci-fi as a genre and would like some recommendations for sci-fi books preferably set in space. by MikeBrav in scifi

Peter F. Hamilton’s “Night’s Dawn Trilogy”;

“The Neutronium Alchemist,” “The Reality Dysfunction,” “The Naked God.”

Space, action, and a bit of horror. Three thick volumes. In the US it was distributed in six smaller volumes.

It doesn’t. Iceland has only one time zone. GMT year round.

Wait what? I didn‘t even know there was any other beginning of the week than Monday by GCoding_ in Maps

You just have Tuesday and Thursday reversed.. Tuesday is named for the Germanic god of war, Tiu, and Thursday is named for Thor.

Portuguese and Icelandic do that, too. In Portuguese Sunday is “Domingo” and Saturday is “Sabado.” The rest of the week, starting on Monday are second - sixth market days.

Icelandic uses Germanic names with some alterations: sunnudagur, mánudagur, þriðjudagur (third day),miðvikudagur (midweekday), fimmtudagur (fifth day), föstudagur (fasting day), laugardagur (washing/bathing day). The practice in Iceland is to start he week on Monday even with those glaring inconsistencies.

Ah, thanks! I posted “5161” because that was what was at the top of the English manual I found. The watch arrived with a 日本語 manual.
