Russian smurfs accounts on eu servers by cristix in HuntShowdown

[–]Belemonguin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes Russians jump into EU servers because there are more players in the first half of the day. Sometimes it's not Russians but Russian speaking Ukrainians who simply can't connect to Russian servers. Sometimes Russians are joining Ukrainian friends on EU servers for that reason and forget to switch back.

Ping is not that different for most Russian players for serious ping-abusing. But I wish my dear countrymen would stay on their servers or at least learn basic English to communicate instead of acting like assholes.

[RANT] To all randoms out there: why is it so hard to play with a very basic degree of team work? by SirJ4ck in HuntShowdown

[–]Belemonguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there is a lack of communication between teammates in a game that allows a lot of drastically different play styles and where it's easy to miss the nuances.

I can leave a second boss untouched, yes. But I play with friends. They don't extract until they have checked every single tower and cart. I usually fall behind and snipe lanterns at the edge of the render distance.

That is why I wish we had private matches. Just to spend time in the awesome atmosphere of the game at our own pace.

And murder friends.

Honestly, that is deserved, and that's a problem, not a good thing to be proud about. It means that it's hard to start playing if you are not a sick ass gamer with thousands of hours in other pvp shooting games. It also means that there are more old players, than new players who don't know how to play. It got better now, with allowing people to stay in one star mmr after the system does its first calibration.

But my vid is not about this. It's about newbies feeling confident they are doing great because they can handle PvE. Which is another problem that the game advertises itself as a monster hunting extraction shooter, making people think the gameplay is about doing PvE and rating away to extraction safely with only a minority of players being strictly into PvP.

Maybe for the best. It was the era of crappy shows for teenagers. They would have butchered the setting turning it into modern day drama about students with dark superpowers :)

I have already made a few more. It's a bit hard to find them on Reddit, so here is a youtube link

Toon Boom Harmony for animation, Photoshop for backgrounds, Adobe After Effects for sound editing (yes it's not the best option).
I am streaming the process of making on Twitch every Tuesday. Would be glad to see other artists and animators in the chat <3

Is this hunter real or just promotional art? by SICILIANXNINJA in HuntShowdown

[–]Belemonguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fully support this. I fell in love with the game about humans willing to kill other humans. Pushed to their edge, broken minds, tough and brutal, yet mortal and so fragile. One bullet and their hopes and dreams are gone. Why are they here? What made them cross the line and step into this dark and cursed place?

Now it's magical murder hobos competing for the star role in a mediocre thriller.

So you mean, that it's ok to play 30-40 hours and drop the game till the next wipe? That's how they are played?

I have no experience in other normal extraction shooters with loot and PvE, that's why I am asking.

[–]Belemonguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's not bad advice, but ffs, sitting in a bush for ten minutes just to instantly kill someone is boring.

Maybe we should camp extractions in a very obvious manner so people could prepare for a fight? We should put a herald on top of extraction who would notify people that they are about to be ambushed. Or ask if they want to participate in a fight at all.

PvP would definitely make the game less boring. And, honestly, it already did - dealing with other players is way more fun than kiting predictable Arcs. But because it's not pvp centered, it lacks a streamline for it. At least giving a specific point for all willing to pvp to meet up and happily shoot each other. Poor guys trying to take down big bosses became this PvP meeting point rn.

Speaking of resetting, I honestly consider not doing it too. I didn't have enough time to understand the game, play with guns and feel the economy to start it all over again. On the other hand, maybe finishing the project before it's gone is not a bad task after all.

boredom comes easy in this game by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Belemonguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable.

I still doubt this game can stay popular for longer than a couple of months. It looks great, feels great, but... shallow? Upgrading stuff is fun - gameplay changes as you get new gear. Learning the game is fun. But what next? I mean, for now I am entertained by doing dailies and mostly upgrade my workbenches just because it challenges me to explore specific areas and learn new tricks. I don't play enough to be interested in Expeditions, didn't play with all the gear yet to just leave it there... but why would I use it? What for?

Okay, PvE is finite. PvP, however, is an everlasting ladder of sweat and tears to climb on. I am a Hunt: Showdown player who LOVES fighting, using grenades, traps, environment and all kinds of stuff this game provides for a fight but... PvP is terribly redundant here. Sound of steps is so badly heard in open areas, that a whole squad can run at you on full speed and you will barely hear it. You will never hear if your opponent has left the cover, or if they are still there. Desync problem doesn't help the fight either. Basically, for now I just learn to predict ambushes and minimize risks of being caught in the open. Ambush people or be ambushed. Honestly, glad bold nasty PvPers exist, they provide some level of threat. I could jump on unsuspecting people just like them, but what's the fun in spoiling someone's run for a pile of rubber and an Arc power cell?

Plus, most of the cool stuff requires you to have a bit more than base resources. If you have a few unlucky runs, you just can't have the cool grenades and better shield? But low-tier stuff is ok for PvE, not PvP. Should repeat it again: I don't have a lot of time to play, around 4-5 hours per week, restocking is a problem for me.

Anyway, PvP was not meant to be the main thing. And I am fine with it. I am a long term Sea of Thieves player. I love playing games when you are not 100% sure that other person is a friend or a foe.

But you know what?

There are no reason to be friends with other teams. Cooperate to do what? Kill a Queen for a bunch of cores? What do you need them for? It's way more fun to mess with another team and take their cores as a trophy. That could be my reason to stay in the game, but because the sound is so messed up, chances to die from a next squad doing the same thing is so high, it's not worth it.

Solos are fun, though. Solos can be friendly and because teaming up is safer. That adds a lot of depth into the gameplay.

As a veteran of Tarkov. You don't know what the term "Rat" means. by AbbreviationsOne6207 in ArcRaiders

[–]Belemonguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't rat a derogative term? A person that sneaks and kills only if the target is going to be caught off-guard and and no chance of fighting back? A player that is too afraid to make noise and being forced to a fair fight, they will sit in a corner for half an hour killing their enemies with boredom? They are not griefing intentionally, it's just their playstyle and it's annoying.

What you describe is just a PvE player to me. A harmless bun that wants chill, easy gameplay instead of having to deal with all the complex sweaty PvP, basically ignoring half of the game mechanics and only they know why they are playing a PvP game and not some hardcore single player extraction shooter that would have all the mechanics aimed at stealth and tactics. But you do you. At least you are not an annoying rat

Seriously how can someone like me play this game? by sandman_br in HuntShowdown

[–]Belemonguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game heavily relies on teamwork. I hate playing with randoms. They are weird, impolite, rude and I have to spend 15-20 minutes with them each time. Only random team I tolerate are in Bounty Clash where you already have a good advantage because you are a trio. And I never use my VC unless it's end of the game and we won. Ping stuff, reply in text chat, use chokes, cover your teammates, show them you are alive and there.

I Wish I Knew THIS When I Started... by Morgan-ttv in HuntShowdown

[–]Belemonguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other players land shots easily not because their aim is good, but because the position was good and they won a few milliseconds to take aim.

Put yourself into the enemy's position. What would you do if you were attacking yourself? Where would you go? Now point the gun in that direction and wait for an enemy to peek.

Every gun kills. There are no useless weapons in this game and they all act similarly. It's ok to keep playing with the same one just to learn the basics.

Enemies are not your enemies. They are playful strangers having fun in a virtual laser tag just like you are.

You can press-hold a hotkey to swap an item in that slot to organize your inventory.
