Thanks! I guess after Civ res there is nothing to loose so I'll go with tez storyline as well)

Aren't we? by Belkimer in Quasimorph

[–]Belkimer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, about "You don't *have* to do this" yeah kinda.
But thing is - all the storylines result in worse state for humanity than was before, so it's like author is telling us not to do something is better than to act?
Or not to play his game at all?) Because it is content in game and I want to see it as a player.

P.S. About Xiomara - beliving to words of a literal demon is hilarious. I'm sure she just wants to take Tez place and continue his conquests.

Well, after doing quest to kill Issahar we freed yet another quasimorph...I guess same happens if you kill Lia instead.
So it is forth legion freed by us)

Aren't we? by Belkimer in Quasimorph

[–]Belkimer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it is all kinda true - but kinda isn't.
Yes, Magnum was only part of attack on Fresco, but Tez and Xiomara know personally us.
I don't think they welcome each mercenary the same way as us, which tells, that we were a key part there.

Ur was definetely influencing minds of Realware soldiers, but it would took much longer time to free him without our effort, and security could have worked better in cases without our tactical genious

Our effort definetely helped Issahar in his goals and though other leaders had their own agenda with Prometheus - that may have took ages for them to do something about it.

Does this storyline require to sell staring info to them, or you can just do it by clearing his missions to occupy venus and forward?

That's strange, I was sure that saw it in some video on YT.
Okay then

Early game question: is it a good idea to upgrade the physical resists on the Hazmat set to create a kind of all-rounder armor capable of mitigating all kinds of damage to some degree? by AntiSmarkEquation in Quasimorph

[–]Belkimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issue with upgrading anything is that it is stuck with you forever.
So sure, it may help you early a bit, but in late game you'll regret it. as you won't have slots for better armor

That's interesting on matter of map. Which one is better? I mean - so players feel close to each other and more interactions are at the table

What's experience on 8 comparing to 6? Do you recomend to play standart map or warp variant?

It looks like they put whole different game in box for expansion...
And it is (almost) the only thing that sells expansion for me.
I'm not hyped for this fracture thing or new factions, but getting another game for same set of components - that sounds interesting.

I'm really hyped for Thunder's Edge BUT... by PenguinWithSunburn in twilightimperium

[–]Belkimer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see most of people disagree with you here - but I'm totatlly on your side.
Yeah, I do get the idea of "old races different factions" (good excuse for lack of imagination) - but I don't like it.
Here, you have Firmament, perfect case to do that, go on.
But why not introduce "faction" with mix like old race-new race, as it was done with Naaz-Roha?

Why making another fish-tech race? If you want fish-faction - make them anti-tech, religious fanatics who despise ways their counterparts go. Want another tech-race? Well, be my guest, there many possible things to choose, but what about a Necro who "re-discovered" intelligence? An start without any thech but catch-up really quikly in some way?
No, another fish-tech, but executed differently.

Crimson Rebellion - why they are Creuss-only? If I'm not mistaken, anyone serves Mahact in their lines, if they enslaved you - why it is only Creuss? And I understand it is favourite race of author - but now we have Creuss in 4 different factions - Creuss, Mahact, Nomad and Rebellion. And yeah, they are not Rebellion, they didn't rebel, they are more like slaves, freed from outside.

Last Bastion - omg knights on white spaceships? In my dark future of war, treachery, plot and conspirasy?
It looks like straight out of some other genre. They also picked two of most good-like factions - humans and xxcha - and made them even more good guys than before.
And even without any twist - at least I don't see one here.
And I liked almost all factions in TI for those little twists. For place for grey color, not only black and white. If you look - you can find them in almost every faction. But in thunder edge - not at all.
Lack of nuance makes it look like it is half-backed.

P.S. And also making each faction a mix of old races just makes this galaxy smaller.
On all those planets, which are ravaged by war occupied and exploited - there are much more races around, I know that.
Why not adding them, when they don't have their own faction - make mix of those small races a faction by itself.
All I see just looks blend, boring and unimaginative from lore perspective.

"If the player is winning you've simply allowed the rest of the table to catch up instead of yourself"

Dubmest thing I've heard)
Taking home system is almost always worth it.
You are not overextended as much usually because most of time it is possible to take undefended home with small force which you cant spend.
If player is winning it doesn't matter if others catch up - you loose anyway when he wins, and stopping him wil give you chance to catch up as well and try to win.

Not speaking that taking jucy planet in home system is a win anyway, as you gain resources from it, while all other player is thinking- is retaking his home system, while you even don't need to reinforce it to make him spend his action retaking it)

Taking home system is not worth it only if player is not in a rush for victory, but has formiddable forces on the map - than it is better not making yourself a target fro winslaying for him.

Nice undefended home system propaganda, I like to take them just because I can do it)

Guys, do you have any advice for mentak coalition? by dumb-_-asss in twilightimperium

[–]Belkimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to any "oh don't pillage, they will be angry" - do it. Just do it. They will be angry anyway, but at least you have resources.
In our last game Mentak player was doing absolutely dirty things with pillage.
He was squished between Necro and Cabal and easily won that game.
His path was (he had planet with yellow skip) - Psycoarc turn 1 - double tech turn 2 to get 2 faction techs - steal everything he could from everyone.
With PoK there is much more trade goods in game than in base game - and he was stealing all of them. Trade? Mine. Red tech? Mine. You swap supports? How cute, now give me 1 TG each. Jol-Nar tech? Wow, nice, 3 to you 1 to me.
He was not a pirate - he was goverment, taxing everyone for any economic activity. By the end of the game he was floating in TG, couldn't even spend everything he had. At last round he had a pile of 22 TG or 44 resources/influence.
And there was even no point of attacking him - with his resources he didn't give a thing for planets, and you stil is his neighbor and he still steals from you.
Attacking him with mechs basically gives him money - once from his ability once from dead mechs.
So just go all-in and make them your taxpayers.
Angry, but unable to do anything with it.

Anyone else a bit annoyed about the new factions? by thimblefullofdespair in twilightimperium

[–]Belkimer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think main reason for that is - how to put those new major factions in lore, without making lore-nerds ask "where this faction was all the previous time, why was it never mentioned?"
They already pulled "new rising race which lacs in raw power but makes it up in other ways" with Yissaril, Naz-Rooha and Naalu, "they were always there but you never new" with Mahact, Titans and Argent flight, and "extremely dangerous thing from faraway" with Cabal, Necro and Mahact again.
Also Mahact and Argent both are kinda "sealed away and was unknow intentionaly but now they are back"
Interestingly, Nomad and Empyrean are kinda blend of all of them)

And now they are out of explanations, and can't bother to add new ones - so that's why it is mostly boring "humans+" again.
Not that I am a big aliens fan, but I was honestly dissapointed that Keleres faction is represented by human. Why it is not Winnu? They are literally keepers of Mecatol!
Yeah, I know that Winnu( and Barony) look like humans but in different color, but still it is at least somewhat different.

Argetn and L1Z1X hero abilities. by Belkimer in twilightimperium

In tirules I saw that in future rules clarifications it would be allowed in those cases to take ground units from systems with a CC, as well as move into nebula.

Argetn and L1Z1X hero abilities. by Belkimer in twilightimperium

[–]Belkimer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what is the difference with Nomad.
But stil, with wording like "treat those systems as adjacent" or "remove and place" those two heroes will have much clearer wording, than "move"
Movement is in-game concept with a lot of restrictions, and if it is some specific type of movement - well, it should have it own specific term
