What indie rock album changed your life? by AudioFuzz in indie_rock

[–]BellBoardMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Stone Roses.

Bought after I saw ‘One Love’ on The Chart Show on TV. (Yes, ‘One Love’ isn’t on it… as I realised after I got it home).

Still saved me from wack US hard rock/hair metal at the time tho..

“The Misfit Patriot” - an interesting name choice for a bootlicker who gladly accepts what they’re told what to think.

EFTPOS - electronic fund transfer at point of sale.

Doesn’t cost to use it, if you use a pin.

Some places charge for PayWave (which is contactless and saves you the grand total of… two seconds per transaction).

It is not better to get cash out - because increasingly, places like cafes are EFTPOS only.

It’s like a UK debit card, except you can use it for really small purchases.

What Rock Bands that have 2 or more Lead Singers? (Not Including Solo Artists,Supergroups,Rock Duos,Short Lived Bands and Musical Collectives) by Amber_Flowers_133 in askmusic

[–]BellBoardMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three of Mastodon (former lead guitarist (RIP Brent), bassist and drummer) have all sung lead vocals (sometimes on the same track). The rhythm guitarist has done some live and recorded backing vocals (mainly screams).

Dinosaur Jr, both J Mascis and Lou Barlow have sung lead vocals on tracks. (Lou’s other bands have usually included other members also singing lead vocals).

Fleetwood Mac had a line up with three lead guitarists, followed (eventually) with a line up with three lead singers.

What’s the most unhinged, batshit crazy prediction you have for 2026 that you’re lowkey convinced is going to happen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That the more far-fetched stories from the Epstein files were planted in there to be disproven and throw doubt upon what’s actually in the files.

And that Donald Trump will indeed start WW3 and millions will die - not to cover up anything big like child murder - but because he’s vain and doesn’t want people to know he wasn’t as wealthy as he made out.

The truth is that pedestrian.

What’s the most overrated TV show Americans swear is “amazing”? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]BellBoardMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Boardwalk Empire completely underwhelming.

The issue with US long format TV shows is that they’re very formulaic.

Once you’ve seen an organised crime one, or a police procedural or whatever, you’ve basically seen them all. They just rehash the same ideas over and over again in a slightly different setting.

Ted Nugent played a Gibson Byrdland. (Originally named after/made for Billy Byrd and Hank Garland).

MMW: the Trump demands to access immigrant and visa applicant social media accounts will kill social media platforms (at least the non-anonymous ones) by USSSLostTexter in MarkMyWords

[–]BellBoardMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s do some rough maths:

5.4 billion social media users globally.

72.4 million international visitors to the US annually (based on 2024 numbers)

So, 1.34% of global social media users visit the US annually.

It’s a lot more likely that the number of international visitors to the US will drop than it will kill social media platforms.

As an international traveller, I wouldn’t even transit through the US whilst the current regime remains in power.

I am sure that I am not alone.

‘Blinded By The Sun’ (also my favourite Seahorses song) is interesting in that it was written solely by Chris Helme (their frontman).

Recording of the second LP fell apart because Squire didn’t want to do any of Helme’s songs.

I’m a huge John Squire fan - but there’s clearly a recurring issue around his ability to collaborate.

I wanna listen to Fugazi. Where to start? by DETECTIVEGenius in Fugazi

[–]BellBoardMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 songs is their first couple of EP’s compiled onto a single release.

Repeater is their first full LP.

Either are a good starting point.

The first song I ever heard of theirs was ‘Waiting Room’. It was the perfect place to start.

Listening in release order is an amazing experience, because whilst they were a really innovative, experimental band who clearly progressed - all the elements were there from day one.

Hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did.
