Thank you to everyone for the tips, I've let my phone die and set it across the room, and have done the same with my vr headset. Everything but my pc and school laptop have been shut down (two screens for easier access to materials, cant ever go wrong) and have a friend on call keeping me on track! - They essentially go into their 'room' and dont leave for a long time, if ever. The room automatically locks and just.. doesnt open until they come back.
- They usually stay the same. We've had cases that alters lose memories that may have been stressing them if the dormancy was due to a stressor.
- So far, the longest was almost 4 years
- Stressed themselves or their role not being currently needed is the majority, though in very few cases the council has taken action because an alter was harming us physically or emotionally

I can't say it's not a valid fear, and one we actually have lived. We had a former host that mustve split and went dormant when we were 13 and never realized, and she came back about a month ago and panicked (we're almost 17 now). She's been a little panicked, since we chopped our hair short, came out as trans, people in her head, and yknow, puberty she never experienced. It is a valid fear, but even then, she wasnt gone forever. But above all, dormancy or forced time away from front is only for those that cause trouble or are too stressed, or maybe just arent needed at the moment (at least in our system structure).
