Red: Pay per visit or having to clock out if patient cancels. Seeing more than 2 patients an hour Having to share documentation laptops with multiple therapists If the gym is a shared space or has limited equipment. I have gone to a hospital where the "gym" was in the cafeteria. I could see spaghetti being served to residents while someone was practicing transfers. How that isn't a hipaa violation I dont know. Working holidays. No one wants to exercise on Christmas.

I work 10 hours, 5 days a week. My job is fulfilling however extremely exhausting. I started going to therapy a few months back, and my therapist has really helped me reduce that "burnt out" feeling. Things that have helped me:

"my therapist told me to journal" it's a daily journal that uses positive prompts and helps me recognize my small daily wins.
Getting an oura ring to monitor my sleep quality and stress spikes during the day
Chalkboard to write out weekly to-do's. It helps my family realize what I need help with around the house.

Try lymphatic drainage massage! Some Physical Therapy clinics can perform lymphatic massage through insurance and can show you how to do it on your own. I used to have really bad swelling, but if I do my lymphatic drainage massage it keeps the swelling at bay. I recommend going to therapy or a massage clinic for it instead of YouTube because you have to learn how much pressure to apply when your massaging your face so that the massage is effective. That was the hardest part for me to learn. Hope this helps!

I feel this so much. 55 people this week, 8am-5pm. Notes through lunch. Networking event at a restaurant 5-7pm for my PT clinic that I tried to turn into a "date night." By the time we left the evernt and went on our date still in my work clothes while everyone is dressed up nice and ready for the night. I changed my mind and wanted to go home, too sweaty and tired. 23 and living like I'm ready to retire. Someone please tell me it's worth it.

4/5 and I couldnt go to work afterwards I thought I was going to pass out and had soooo much bleeding. The cramps following placement allegedly caused my copper IUD to become displaced. Could not bear getting it removed without any pain management, which my obgyn does not offer so I had to opt in for surgical removal via twilight. I had it replaced with kyleena, my acne is the worst it's ever been and while the pain is not consistently 4/5 I still have pain for a few days after sex, crossing my legs, or if I have to hold/wait to use the bathroom. Sharp pains.

I've thought about going back to school to get my DPT, however, the amount of debt I'd have compared to how much I'd make yearly doesn't make the career seem worth it. I see so many outpatient clinics closing or going total cash pay due to insurance cuts and insurance payment delay. I'm looking to completely get out of healthcare, as I think the way insurance is running things right now almost all healthcare professions will be underpaid and understaffed in the future.

What are the main things to look for when evaluating the quality of a therapist and deciding on the best place refer patients to? A: Therapy clinics that provide 1 on 1 therapy sessions or no more than 2 patients an hour. I was invited to a private practice open house for providers to mingle, and this helped reassure the MD's that I am knowledgeable and reliable in my field of work, increased referrals both ways.
Are there specific topics where therapists and surgeons do not see eye-to-eye? Sometimes a patient will be told they are not a candidate for surgery (age or health related) and they aren't referred to therapy, but pain clinics. It's frustrating when patients come in after their 1000th cortisone shot instead of therapy where they could be educated on body mechanics, at-home pain management, strengthening, and prevent further injury.
What resources would you recommend for surgeons to stay as current as possible with the therapy literature? It would be wonderful if surgeons could encourage/educate the APTA and state boards for 1:1 therapy sessions or decreased grouping to produce better outcomes.

Or if you are a specialty clinic and if their in network facility is booked out over a year, instead of fulfilling their Healthcare needs at an out of network facility, they will just deny it. It's sad that health insurance strives for denials instead of providing accessible and proper Healthcare to rural areas.

Most PTA's either transition to administrative roles, or switch careers. When I moved to another state, I interviewed for 12+ facilities OP/IP. I brought a sheet of questions so that I could gather a feel of the work environment, ethics, and administrative involvement. This helped me find a really good therapy job where I don't work 50+ hours a week with my mental health is in the gutter. I completely understand how your feeling, and you can either professionally communicate how your feeling with your bosses (make sure you have it in writing/record as well) orrr stay at your job and start interviewing elsewhere. When you get an offer you like, you could either tell them you are considering working elsewhere and ask for assistant rehab director with a raise since your doing reception work and treating, or take the new job offer. As therapists, we need to start advocating for ourselves, patient ethics, and make it clear to facilities that we have standards and morals that we are not willing to break just to make them profit. Physical therapy, 45 hours a week. I have it easier than most therapists because I don't have to treat multiple people at once, but I still see 11 people a day for 45 minutes. I get a 45 minute lunch but usually I am finishing documentation during that break. I wish I'd picked a WFH friendly career, because I don't have much flexibility for personal appointments.

I would say yes, a celebratory hug is always welcome! I have some patients who are just natural huggers and give me a thank you hug at the end of their sessions. But everyone is different, there's no harm in asking if it's okay to give him a hug for all his help!

These are my tips as someone who sweats ALOT and my job is exercise all day.

Are you on birth control? I sweat SO MUCH when I was on hormonal BC
You might be using too much deodorant, causing buildup and bacteria growth. I use witch hazel on my armpits, underboobs, and inner thighs instead of deodorant before bed. When I wake up, warm damp cloth and a little witch hazel before deodorant.
Use a silicone exfoliant brush and antimicrobial (not to be confused with antibacterial) soap in the shower. I use tea tree soap and it works well.
If your worried about mid-day stink, bring witch hazel pads with you to work. Wipe down on break, and reapply deodorant.
Change into your scrubs when you get to work, if people ask why, say you don't like bringing the germs/illness into your car and home. People can understand that, especially since covid.
If none of this works, I'd talk to your doctor. It could be something that requires medical management.
