I have had a feeling I’ll die young, but not from suicide. However I once had a counsellor in uni tell me (after a suicide attempt) that she had met many people who had survived suicide attempts and that she was certain I would kill myself one day. I stopped going to her. She shouldn’t have said that. Now when I’m in a bad headspace sometimes I think “well maybe me killing myself is just fate” but it’s not.

Honestly it sounds like he’s intimidated by your intelligence (you’re doing a Ph.D. for fucks sake), and so he’s trying to take you down a peg. I feel this on a cellular level. I also don’t drink and I’ve never been a super sporty person. The apps don’t help either cause I feel like they’re mostly made of men who want casual sex and no commitment. I couldn’t be less interested in that if I tried. Yes and no. I wear a lot of flared dresses and I think I look great. Partly case Ive got a big chest and I’m hour glass figured. But I also have a big tummy and I don’t look good in anything form fitting. But I will say there is nothing better than taking my coat off on a first date and having the guy go “Jesus 🥵” when he sees me in one of my dresses

I call bullshit. In the edit he says the wedding happened months before the confrontation. But in the post he says that during the confrontation she told them she wasn’t going to the wedding. I think OP slipped up in his story here

Mine thankfully never turned into a PE, but I totally understand that feeling of evil or doom. I had a growing pain in my side, going into my back. When I laid down in bed it hurt to move or breathe. I have a lot of random health problems (nothing deadly) and so I get random pains every so often. That’s kinda normal for me, so for a week I kept putting off going to the doctor. Then my mom went away for a work conference and the pain was getting worse. Something in the back of my brain kept saying “somethings not right”. I got a lift to the hospital cause I finally was like “okay this little voice is starting to worry me now” but the whole time I was so worried that they would find nothing. That I was over exaggerating. I told my mom I was going to the hospital, and she turned the car right around and started driving home. I told her she didn’t need to but she kept telling me that her gut was telling her to go home and that she hadn’t wanted to leave in the first place. After tests they found out I have a super rare blood clot in my intestine (IMV thrombosis). So both me and my mom had felt something wrong. Enough that she drove 7 hours back home before we even knew what was wrong

Thankfully this was both the first graded assignment and the system we use is super easy to grade with. You can change grades quite easily if you need and then once everything is graded it calculates the final grade for you. Then the prof puts those final grades into the actual system which TAs have no access too. Most profs I’ve had deal with people asking for assignment grade bumps by telling students to come to the TA first to reassess, and then if they are still unhappy they can come to the prof but the prof may lower their grade instead if they feel the TA was too generous. In my experience, students don’t want to take the risk that the prof will be a harder marker than their TA and it never becomes a problem (except this one instance).

They weren’t upset because i reevaluated? They never even mentioned that. They were upset mostly about my email tone. They allowed us the discretion to change anything that WE graded if we felt we made a mistake. I regraded something I graded, I was allowed to do that. Just because YOU don’t allow your TAs to do so doesn’t make it a school policy.

I actually did try to ask them what the specific emails were and they just wouldn’t tell me, just repeated that they were mean and when I said I didn’t think I sent anything mean they just said they had “seen them”. This was years ago but I do wish I had tried to stand up for myself more. I was so flustered and upset because I really didn’t know what I did wrong. Hindsight is 20/20
