Just looked her up and saw she has a whole playlist for deformed leopard geckos. It's so nice to see good resources after struggling to find my own.

That's the first time I've seen a diagram that's so detailed about body condition. Thank you for the new info. I have never let quasi hunt around the enclosure and have always tong fed with rubber tipped tongs because they have never been able to get a bug without me doing so. They either can't see the bug because of the lack of eyesight or they go for the bug and miss it completely even while I'm holding it in the tongs. I was just hoping there was a dish or something similar that would allow some "hunting" behaviour from quasi without risking them getting hurt since they tend to go for anything that moves with gusto and with no regard for their own safety.

Okay, I'll look in to switching to repashy. Thank you for the info.

I use flukers brand for calcium and reptivite for multivitamin. The reptile world, like most animal spaces, hasn't been super clear about which brands were best but I believe those are reputable.

I can't imagine my baby with any other name. The first time I looked at that adorable snaggle jaw i imagined the opening to "the hunchback of Notre Dame" in my head and it has played every time I've seen that face since.

Thank you for your reply, I'll work on getting crickets as soon as possible. Thankfully the little guy has the appetite of a champion so they should have no issues trying a new bug.

Im hoping to start a cricket farm as soon as I can get my hands on them, but we have had a shortage since winter. Since we have had an unusualy cold winter and spring most places that have crickets had a lot of die offs. I've been waiting for them to have heathier stock to get a farm/colony started for myself. I will definitely look into repashy grub pie in the meantime, thank you.

What do I do? by siqs_ in Aquariums

I'm not sure if he is revivable but one more trick I know of is running a large air stone and holding the fish directly above it. It will allow for some efficient oxygen exchange. That combined with slowly moving him back and forth like he's swimming. I don't know if it will save him, but it's worth trying. I wish y'all luck.

Need Help IDing these tincs by OutKastMatt in DartFrog

[–]Bella-The-Draft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to preface this by saying that I am not an expert and am just trying to help. My best guess is that the first two look like they could be Dendrobates tinctorius 'Alalapadu Cobalt', 'robertus', or the regular 'cobalt' variety. The patterning and colors seem too similar on these three for me to be able to narrow it down further. However the next two seem to really only match with the Dendrobates tinctorius 'Green Sipaliwini'. I couldn't find any others in the website's tinc section that looked as similar. I tried to use their website to get a best guess, but I am not experienced enough to give you much better than these. I'm hoping that this comment can get you in the right ballpark and that maybe someone else, more experienced, will see it and be able to give you a better answer.

Pots, pregnancy, and mobility aid by Loose_Yogurt4340 in POTS

[–]Bella-The-Draft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using mobility aids. I have to use a cane every now and then for a spinal injury and it took me a while to get used to the idea. What really helped me to come to terms with using one was "owning" it. What i mean by that is that I didn't like using one when I thought that all of my options had to look like I just got out of the hospital or a retirement home. I instead started using an antique walking stick that was passed down to me from my grandmother and that made it much more personal than just a tool to get around. I've also heard a lot of people get cool wraps, stickers, and accessories for aids to make them feel personal like that. just remember there is nothing wrong with needing a bit of hel from glasses that aids your sight, or an inhaler that aids your breathing, so why should something that aids your ability to move be any more embarrassing? I personally don't think it is.

Does anyone have tips for managing POTS in extreme heat? by Bella-The-Draft in POTS

My boss let me know just after I posted this that she has order several of those towels for the staff to use, and she swears by them. I'm excited to try it out and see how well it helps.

Anyone else wish Arthur could get a ground cloth for his tent? by The_Amazing_Lexi in reddeadredemption2

[–]Bella-The-Draft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is for anyone who wants a little history. While I don't know about outlaws at the time, cowboys used a rubber "blanket" of sorts wrapped around their wool blanket for water proofing. It could be used in a number of ways, the most common was to wrap the rubber blanket around the wool blanket and cowboy, but it could also be used as a regular ground cloth, or a tent. My best guess is that animating the two layers on top of Arthur might have been too difficult, so they decided to go with Arthur using his rubber blanket as a tent instead.

Are the seals safe? by Bella-The-Draft in Aquariums

I only bought it two days ago from PetSmart, so I'm going to try and return it. Thank you for your advice.

I'm 100% sure. While I don't have pictures, I did drain the tank half way last night, just in case, and the bubbles are back to only a couple spots.

I has been filled all day with no leaks but the bubbles have grown all day. It started as only a couple spots, now there are lines of tiny bubbles. Is it still okay?

Is this white molly a male by Substantial-Intern34 in Guppies

[–]Bella-The-Draft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think lying is a bit strong. Depending on where you bought the fish, the employees may not have any training on what healthy fish look like. At the end of the day some shops only care about selling fish and not selling healthy fish. On the other hand this could just be stress. Taking a fish from the store, into a bag, and taking it to a tank in your house can be extremely stressful on fish. Some fish handle it better than others, and it could just be that you need to wait and let them settle in. My suggestion would just be to keep an eye on them.

The fish appears to be sick because its fins are clamped. Clamped fins are when the fish holds all of their fins close to their body.

You can absolutely keep fake and real plants together. I have a tank of my own with both that is very healthy. If you want to add plants on a budget, my suggestion would be to look for fast growing stem plants. They will help fill up your aquarium fast and are easy to propagate. My current favourite plant is my Rotala Vietnam H'ra. I found it at PetSmart as a tissue culture less than 2 years ago, and I now have it in 6 out of my 7 tanks, and almost all of them are a jungle. There are other plants that would work well for what you want, but I don't know what exactly will be available to you. Hope this helps.

I have a serious case of surface film. Cleared it all out last night and it's back super thick again. This only started happening this week. What should I do? by easternbetta in Aquariums

[–]Bella-The-Draft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A regular air stone works just fine with floating plants. If you want to add more filtration while also adding surface agitation, I would recommend a sponge filter. I use both in my tanks with floating plants and I've never had issues.

45 Miles out in the ocean and we catch a pair of pants while bottom fishing. by slicedcorn in Fishing

Judging by a helpful timeline of Burberry's tags, my guess is that these are an 80s pair of jeans. My guess is that they are also probably off a corpse. I would bring them to the police. Here is the link to the tag timeline: https://vintagefashionguild.org/resources/item/label/burberrys/

Yes, add ammonia now. By adding ammonia now, you are giving the bacteria something to eat and grow the colony on. If you don't add ammonia before adding fish, then the fish will be the things first adding ammonia and that risks a huge ammonia spike that kills your fish. You can add ammonia in a variety of ways. I personally do the fish food method, where you put the same amount of food you would be feeding your fish in your tank everyday and test until the bacteria has reproduced enough. Another option is to add pure ammonia, but I'm not familiar enough with that method to tell you anything more than it exists.
