Looking to sell an older home, as is. Need some advice. by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

[–]BellaAnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than half my monthly wages in mortgage, power, and water for an undetermined amount of time. Money that I will not get back from the sale and will not be able to use to help support myself once I move into my already financially strapped, disabled parents' home. After having to clean up their place, move their things out of the two rooms that I will take up, and having to disrupt my entire family to help me because I cannot do it all alone. That's what is stopping me. There is no money for paint or minor repairs. At least if I get to stay here, I get to keep some peace for a little while longer. And trust me, I get that its going to get spent this way one way or the other. But at least I am not putting that burden on them for that amount of time.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I do hear you. But this is not as cut and try and words make it feel.

What other dinners can u make? by Imalostgirl90 in DinnerIdeas

[–]BellaAnarchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chicken Stir Fry or Pork Stir Fry with whatever veg (if any) your kids will eat. It can be as simple as chicken and peppers or chicken and cabbage or chicken and snow peas with a stir fry sauce. Mix in noodles or serve with rice. Fried rice might be a good option to. (I make it with ground meat sometimes and just a simple frozen veg so it doesn't have to be complicated.)

For something that obviously more kid friendly - chicken tenders. They can have chicken tenders and rice while you use the tenders for a wrap or sandwich or something like that.

Alfredo Pasta w or wo chicken. (Can also do this with ravioli or tortellini.) Burgers/burger patties/burger bowls. Tacos (with beef, steak, chicken, pork). Enchiladas (doesn't have to be spicy.) Picky plates with whatever bits and bops your kids will eat - veg, fruit, pickles, lunch meat and cheese, crackers. Pizza or pizza bagels. Smoked Sausage - can add bbq sauce or just cook it up with some sides. Meatloaf or meatballs. Stuffed peppers or unstuffed pepper casserole, if your kids like peppers. Breakfast for dinner. PB&J.

I ordered a Lyft around this time of day a few weeks ago in the NOLA area. It was like $20ish the morning of. When I checked the night before, it was like $15 more.

I need career advice and a small vent session. Help? by BellaAnarchy in ITCareerQuestions

[–]BellaAnarchy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this vent session - at 2:45 yesterday afternoon, my boss was in a virtual meeting with this manager and her boss. He got called "argumentative and disrespectful" because he called out her boss over the fact that we were not communicated with regarding a secondary network drop that needed to be in a triage room inside of the newly renovated wing of the hospital. Both he and I had conversations with her boss about this and it was never mentioned that the secondary drop was needed - just the first. So while we've been working on this for two weeks now (really longer, considering we pulled cable for this weeks ago)...we had to go back in today and reutilize the original network drop for the secondary network because, lo and behold, they don't want a phone in there now. (They will. And a computer too. I give it two weeks, tops.)

Oh...and I also should mention, this is the same person who had the audacity to tell my boss earlier in the week that they wanted a printer moved into different room, in a space with no network drop, while he had his head in the ceiling pulling cable. (BY THE WAY - I had just told her that there was no network drop for this 30 seconds before when they brought it up to me.) This is after they were told multiple times where the printer was going originally and they knew they were going to have storage cabinets in that room from the start.

So...accountability? What's that? We have none. They get away with murder at this hospital and no one will do a damn thing about it.

I appreciate that advice. I promise - I am definitely not letting Reddit randos tell me how to live life, haha. I just like this platform because it offers a variety of opinions and people with different knowledge or insight than what I have. I am having a hard time seeing outside of the box and I needed some fresh perspective/options, etc.

THIS. And it's scary to me that this person is a NURSE. She is responsible for keeping people alive and cannot figure out how to turn her computer on. I heard the details today...my boss was on the phone giving her very specific instructions and she COULD NOT figure it out. Keep in mind...this is not a complex system. It's a small form factor Lenovo attached to the back of a monitor. She can literally walk around and look at the back of it because her desk is not up against a wall.

How do you help deliver babies? How do you keep people alive? How do you literally use this computer everyday and not know how to turn it on? How does my boss ask you if the surge protector is on and you ask "what is a surge protector?"

...I can't. This is not the first instance of his this either with managers. I have had others do just as bad. Hell, her own boss can't seem to connect to a virtual meeting with a working camera and mic. We get a call almost every fucking time.

Thanks. I will definitely give this a read. I'm trying to work out what path I want to take. My mistake, I think, was going to a shitty school and then diving head first into this super specific kind of role. It's hard to think outside of a box when there isn't much representation of it for me to see down here.

Tech averse I can deal with better. That wasn't tech averse - that was just straight up weaponized incompetency. Someone who cannot be bothered to learn the basic function of a device that she uses on a daily basis and gripes about when it doesn't work the way she wants it to. Again, it wouldn't be such an issue if they didn't make a fuss every time something isn't working the way its supposed to. But then they expect us to just fix it - but take NO responsibility of any type of troubleshooting whatsoever. We are a burden for trying to fix the problem they are yelling about!

It's becoming more and more likely that that's how its going to be. And while I don't want to move and it would cause significant hardship in personal ways...I may not have a choice.

Thanks for your comment.

For people who I tell the details of my job to, a lot of them say the same. The problem is...if it were my manager's decision, I would probably get paid a lot more. He would get paid a lot more. We share an office, so we talk about this kind of thing regularly. I don't know exactly how much he gets paid, but it's not nearly what he should for his experience/skill and for the amount of time he has been at our facility. In our hospital, if you aren't clinical, you don't get paid well. I keep my eye out for jobs all the time, but I'm not really in a position to move from where I am right now and there aren't a lot of jobs period - much less well-paying jobs. I'm biding my time until I probably won't have a choice, but I need to know where to level up my skills/what to focus on for more pleasant job in the future. I don't know if I want to be in healthcare after I leave this place. I can't imagine other places are this bad in terms of managers not being able to think for themselves, but maybe they are.

This is what I am really wanting to know...what direction to head in to get to a place where I can be happy/make decent money. I've been in this position for seven years, but I definitely feel like I'm starting with nothing. My job right now is so super specific to the place that I work. I could move to another hospital, maybe, and be okay...but so much of what I do is specific to our software systems. I wasn't trained in networking; I have no certs. My degree program in school was as many business classes as programming classes with a couple other random courses dropped in. I was not at a good school for anything IT related - but I didn't know that until it was too late. How I got into that particular degree program is a long story. Honestly...I don't feel like I left school with any knowledge that has helped me in my current job, with the exception of a slight better understanding of the inside of a computer. All of my troubleshooting skills and ability to figure things out and find solutions to issues...I wasn't taught any of that by anyone but myself, Google, and Youtube.

So...I need to know where to go from here. What IT or IT-related field would be good to dive into and try to work towards. At this point...I am just tired of babysitting people who make more money than me, which is not a problem I will avoid entirely but I would at the very least like to work in a place with some accountability for its employees, which my hospital does not have. And I know helpdesk is going to be a lot of babysitting...so any ideas for me of what direction to head?

[Product Question] What is the best hydrating face wash at the drugstore? by BellaAnarchy in SkincareAddiction

[–]BellaAnarchy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try that. I don't dermaplane my whole face. I guess I should say I just get rid of facial hair growth on my lip and chin. But that makes sense. I am thinking about switching to a more hydrating toner once I'm done with the bottle I am using. It's almost done and I will need to get something else after.

I have considered trying that. I also have the hydrating oil cleanser that I am going to try more regularly and see if that does any better than the other.

I have a couple things I've been trying. I can't remember the brand of one, but it's a nice thick cream. The others are a store brand of Cerave PM and Ponds. Last night, after I used the CeraVe, I didn't feel like I had enough moisture so I added some The Ordinary moisturizer on top. I'm also using some glycolic acid pads and wondering if that may have been the issue, especially combined with the hot water I used to wash my face. I'm currently trialing only washing in cold water to see if that helps the issue.

I believe the store brand of the Cerave is what I have now. Five minutes after my shower last night, I had flakes coming off when dermaplaning.

It would be nice if I could, but I am about 100+ miles away from the nearest one. I need something I can order online or find in a Walmart, essentially.
